Who says TV programmers have run out of ideas?
Why, just in the last week, the trade papers have announced deals and casting for as many as 15 new reboots spinoff series and specials. Some sound like familiar shows, others like mutant Frankenstein hybrids of familiar shows. We'll leave it to you to decide which of these programs sound like must-see-tv and which sound like much-skip-tv.

Ex-nbc exec on “Freaks and Geeks”: "I absolutely hated canceling this particular show” Garth Ancier, who was NBC’s Entertainment president, gives his take on Seth Rogen confronting him at “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend. "It was clear from the very beginning that 'Freaks and Geeks' had great writing from Judd and Paul Feig, and a tremendous cast,” Ancier wrote on Facebook. "This was an awful decision that has haunted me forever. But the show was consistently NBC's least-viewed. For what it is worth, I have watched all of the episodes over and over again on Netflix, and asked myself what I could have done better to save it." Desperate Housewives could have broken some major new ground back in 2005 after the show's Felicity Huffman played a transgender woman in the film Transamerica. "After I shot Transamerica I kept going to Desperate and saying, 'We need a trans character. We need a trans character,'" Huffman told me yesterday while promoting her new film Rudderless at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills. "There are wonderful trans actors that I know, but I think it was too early. I really wanted it to happen." Sadly, it never did. Desperate Housewives premiered 10 years ago. While it ran for eight seasons, Huffman doesn't think a reunion show will be happening anytime soon. "I think it would be »

Agent Cooper is returning for more "Damn good coffee."Showtime just announced they're bringing back David Lynch's twisted and bizarre murder mystery from 1990, "Twin Peaks." The director teased the announcement over the weekend, but the network just confirmed the news by posting a fittingly weird trailer for the new series. The teaser reveals very little, simply showing Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) snapping before a slow zoom on the "Welcome to Twin Peaks" sign. The words "25 years Later" and "2016" also flash on the screen before the Showtime logo pops up.The new, nine-episode season will reportedly go into production in 2015 and air in 2016, the 25th anniversary of the original's finale. While most of the men on Wisteria Lane were either schemers, cheaters, stalkers, or killers, they were all pretty to look at. Desperate Housewives provided us with some dreamboats like the shirtless Mike Delfino (James Denton) and John Rowland (Jesse Metcalfe) as well as some men we feared. In honor of still thinking about these hunks 10 years since we first met them, we’re ranking each and every man of Fairview purely based on who we’d want as our real life husbands. We even asked star Dana Delany (Katherine Mayfair) to play Do, Mary, Kill with them. What? Like you haven’t thought about it?
Whether you prefer a stay-at-home, super-dad like Tom Scalvo (Doug Savant), ambitious politician with a crazy side like Victor Lang (John Slattery), or a protective, controlling businessman like Carlos Solis (Ricardo Chavira), there was most definitely a man for you on the lane. »

Desperate Housewives somehow stayed on the air until 2012 — and those few last years were not pretty, onscreen or off — but we prefer to remember the show as it was during the halcyon days of 2004, when Marc Cherry first brought the world into the sordid living rooms and bedrooms of the women of Wisteria Lane, sparking a global TV phenomenon and increasing the Q scores of Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, and Marcia Cross dramatically. Those days are long past, but in honor of the show’s tenth anniversary today, we take a look back at many of the season-one cast members to see where they are now.Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) Huffman is the Housewife who has achieved the most critical success as an actress. She won a Golden Globe award for her performance of a transgender woman in Transamerica, back in 2005, and while she has yet »

A few weeks ago, we all participated in the ritualistic rending of garments to honor the tenth anniversary of the premiere of Lost. People still have some strong Lost feelings. But if you can remember back to fall 2004, Lost was not the only show people were excited about, not the only mystery TV was promising to solve. Desperate Housewives premiered ten years ago today, and man, was that first season ever a fun ride.I know I can watch Devious Maids and Mistresses and get a lot of the same Dh vibes, but neither show is as biting and funny as Desperate was. It wasn't just an over-the-top prime-time melodrama; it had a serious bite to it. In the years since its premiere, my feelings about Dh have kind of swirled together with my less-positive feelings about the Real Housewives franchises the series inspired, and the behind-the-scenes drama eventually overshadowed »
