Emmys 2017 Poll: Who Should Win for Lead Actress, Limited Series/Movie?

5 hours ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Real talk: Can we just give all six of these women an award at this year’s Emmys and be done with it? Because choosing just one winner feels like an impossible task.

The 2017 nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie include four (!) Oscar winners, all of whom would cruise to victory in a less competitive year. Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon both earned nods for HBO’s rich-moms drama Big Little Lies, with Kidman holding a tiny edge for her heartbreaking work as abused wife Celeste. And it’s fitting that Jessica Lange and »

Co-Stars Compete in Lead Actress in a TV Movie/Limited Series Category

10 August 2017 10:30 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

In the fifth episode of the FX limited series “Feud,” aptly titled “And the Winner Is … (The Oscars of 1963),” bitter rivals Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) go head-to-head at the Oscars. Never mind that Crawford wasn’t even nominated: She manages to steal the night by offering to accept the golden statue on behalf of the other lead actress nominees.

And now Lange and Sarandon find themselves nominated against each other in probably the most competitive category of the year: lead actress in a limited series or TV movie. But don’t draw any parallels to the actresses they played on screen; Lange assures us there are no real-life similarities. “I was so happy the day I saw the nominations and realized the six main actors in the piece were all nominated,” Lange says, referring not only to her and Sarandon, but also their supporting cast of Judy Davis, Jackie Hoffman »

‘There’s… Johnny!’ Won’t Premiere This Month, As Seeso Winds Down and Producers Shop For a New Home

7 August 2017 5:05 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

As Seeso further winds down operations, insiders have confirmed that upcoming comedy “There’s…Johnny!” won’t launch at the end of the month as originally planned.

“There’s… Johnny!” was originally set to debut on August 24, but according to insiders close to the show, producers are now looking to find a new home for the period comedy, set in the world of “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” circa 1972.

The decision at Seeso to shelve “There’s… Johnny!” comes after other shows also haven’t premiered as planned, including Season 2 of Dan Harmon’s “HarmonQuest,” which was supposed to return at the end of July.

Created by Paul Reiser and his “Mad About You” producer David Steven Simon, “There’s… Johnny” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. »

7 August 2017 11:02 AM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - TV News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - TV News news »

It's an interesting statistic that Felicity Huffman has been nominated for five Emmys, winning in 2005 for Desperate Housewives, and each year she's been able joined by husband William H. Macy as a fellow nominee.

This year marks the third straight year Huffman has been nominated for ABC's American Crime and the fourth Shameless nomination in a row for Macy.

Huffman admits that she isn't going into this year's show expecting to win. The absurdly stacked lead actress in a limited series category includes Big Little Lies stars Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, plus Feud stars »

‘American Crime’ Star Felicity Huffman on Crafting Her Distinctive Looks, And What About Awards Season ‘Makes Me Want to Barf’

30 June 2017 12:30 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Some might see the low-rated but award-winning “American Crime” getting canceled after Season 3 as a tragedy — but Felicity Huffman appreciates the time they got. “It’s unbelievable that [ABC] did it for three years,” she told IndieWire. “It wasn’t just like, ‘We tried it for a year. Oh, it didn’t work.’ They invested and they also gave John Ridley and Michael McDonald carte blanche. The suits never showed up to go, ‘Wait a second. Can’t you be wearing a bikini, and where’s the car chase?'”

That quality is what made “Crime” stand out amongst broadcast offerings, Ridley and McDonald bringing premium cable drama style to each season of the anthology series. All three installments enlisted a high caliber of talent, including Lily Tomlin, Timothy Hutton and Regina King, to tell three different stories about the damage we do to each other and the underlying issues that contribute to that. »

Let's Talk About That "Full-Circle Moment" on Pretty Little Liars

28 June 2017 2:30 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Pretty Little Liars. Going in to the series finale, there was a lot we needed to get through. We'd have to cry at all of the cast's emotional goodbyes. Of course, we had to get our epic "A.D." reveal, and we had to figure out where all the characters end up. With so much business to attend to, it's appropriate to scrutinize every minute of the finale because there wasn't any time to waste. Looking back, there's something we wish I. Marlene King left out entirely. It's a trope that many TV shows have been guilty of over the years. The delight at the end of Pll was seeing all of our characters ride off into the sunset. Aria and Ezra marry and embark on their dreamy honeymoon, Emily and Alison are engaged and raising their twins, Hanna and »

Review: Glow (2017)

12 June 2017 12:01 PM, PDT | The Cultural Post | See recent The Cultural Post news »

If there is one thing Orange Is the New Black taught us, it is that a female-dominated cast doesn’t necessarily equate to a series saturated in glitz and glamour or caught-up in clichéd feminine preoccupations like boyfriends, fashion and babies. Indeed, if you are searching for a new Sex and The City or Desperate Housewives – you may want to turn away now. But Netflix’s new series Glow delivers on so many other fronts – it’s comedy, clever characterisation and overall style – that hopefully you won’t be wondering when one of them is going to go shopping or who is going to bag a husband.

Set in 80s Los Angeles, Glow follows a group of frustrated actresses who – struggling to make it big in Hollywood – are all cast in a female wrestling programme know as Glow: Glamorous Ladies Of Wrestling (a real phenomenon, so I’m told). Contrary to the name, »
