Coming hot on the heels of Melissa Benoist’s (Whiplash) casting as Kara Zor-El, it looks like CBS has found its Jimmy Olsen for the upcoming Supergirl TV series, with TV Line reporting that Mehcad Brooks (Desperate Housewives, True Blood) has nabbed the role.
The site reports that Supergirl’s version of Jimmy Olsen is a “smart, worldly photographer for CatCo, the media company where Kara works. He has recently been living and working in National City, though the reason is still a secret, and his salt-of-the-earth nature quickly piques Kara’s interest.”

Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s latest TV gig is outta this world.
Morgan will play Jd Richter, a “roguish… free-wheeling, hard-drinking” mercenary/bounty hunter who is fearless/bordering on reckless, mostly because he’s got nothing to lose. He is the Everyman who thought he had seen everything until Molly Woods (played by Berry) enters his life.
Extant‘s first season followed astronaut Molly as she reacclimated to life on Earth after being impregnated by an alien life »

Glee and Whiplash actress Melissa Benoist will be playing her, and the next casting major addition to the pilot has now been made. That will be Desperate Housewives and True Blood star Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, The Daily Planet photographer who is best friends with Clark Kent and a keen admirer of Superman.
That’s the comic book version of the character however, and the Supergirl one is described as a “smart, worldly photographer for CatCo, the media company where Kara works. He has recently been living and working in National City, though the reason is still a secret, and his salt-of-the-earth nature quickly piques Kara’s interest. »

ABC is Flesh-ing out its pilot orders with a thriller from a Shondaland vet.
The potential series centers on a politician’s son who shows up nearly 10 years after his presumed death and rocks the local community. His reappearance, naturally, has repercussions for the neighbor jailed for his murder and the police officer that handled the case.
ABC has picked up the pilot “Flesh and Blood” from Writers Guild of America-nominated screenwriter Jenna Bans. The pilot explores the shockwaves that ripple through a family and community when a son thought dead for more than 10 years suddenly returns.
The son of a local politician, the young man’s return not only rattles his tight-knit family to its core, it prompts the release of the neighbor imprisoned for his murder, while the cop responsible is forced to reexamine what truly happened all those years ago.

In the original 2011 thriller, Cooper starred as Eddie Morra, a writer who with the help of the experimental drug Nzt is able to access 100 percent of his mind, and in turn rockets to success in the financial world.
The TV take, penned by Craig Sweeny (Elementary, The 4400) and counting Cooper among its executive producers, follows a man who uses his newfound Nzt-enhanced abilities to (of course) solve weekly cases for the FBI.
Mehcad Brooks from Desperate Housewives has landed a new role, Jimmy Olsen on Supergirl. CBS has announced that he will be playing the role of Jimmy. The show is describing the character as a savvy and worldly photographer who is new. He will be close to Kara, as she finds his life and personality interesting. He will likely be a regular cast member of the show. It is expected to premier either this fall or in 2016.
We are happy that Mehcad has a new gig. He is a gifted actor and with his winning looks, it is easy to see why they picked him and he has an advantage as his profile has not gotten too big. I am sure in that was planned by them and for a good reason. I cannot wait to see how he does in the role. It seems like it is all coming together so nicely know. »

Clark Kent isn't the only Super-person who needs a little photographer buddy. For weeks the internet has been buzzing with speculation about who would play the role of Jimmy Olsen, the photographer sidekick generally seen along side Superman's journalistic alter-ego in the comic books. Earlier this week, Hitfix broke the news that CBS had cast "Glee" alum Melissa Benoist as the lead in their upcoming series based on the adventures of the young woman of steel. Today, the network confirms to Hitfix that the next Jimmy Olsen will be.... Mehcad Brooks! Previously seen in "Necessary Roughness" (above), "True Blood" and "Desperate Housewives, Brooks has been cast in the role, described by CBS as "A photographer at CatCo, the media company where Kara (series star Melissa Benoist) works. He has recently been living and working in National City, though the reason is still a secret." So what do you think? Is »

Following the news that Whiplash actress Melissa Benoist will play Supergirl in the CBS series of the same name, the next major casting addition has been made in the form of Mehcad Brooks. He's not a huge star, but is best known for starring in Desperate Housewives and True Blood. In the comic books, Jimmy has obviously always been portrayed as being Caucasian. The casting of Brooks will undoubtedly ruffle the feathers of the same comic book fans who objected to a similar race change for Iris West in The Flash and Perry White in Man of Steel. However, it's the official description of the character which should be more worrying as it doesn't sound all that much like Jimmy regardless of his race! You see, Supergirl's version of Jimmy is described as a "smart, worldly photographer for CatCo, the media company where Kara works. He has recently been »
Less than a week after actress Melissa Benoist signed on to play the title character in CBS' Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness, True Blood) has joined the cast as James Olsen. Based on the Jimmy Olsen character from the DC Comics, James Olsen is an attractive photographer for CatCo, the same media conglomerate that Kara Zor-el (Melissa Benoist) works for. Kara is an assistant to Cat Grant, the company's founder, who has yet to be cast at this time.
James has recently been living and working in National City, although his reason for doing so is still a secret. Entertainment Weekly reports that James is rumored to be a love interest for Kara, but that has yet to be confirmed. In the comics, Jimmy Olsen was a photographer for the Daily Planet, who typically appeared in Clark Kent's stories. He was also close friends with both Clark and Lois Lane, »
Some 13 years after the credits rolled on the final episode, the X-Files still remains one of the most iconic and boundary-pushing TV shows to ever grace our screens. Over its 9 year run on Fox it astounded audiences with its 202 episodes of alien abduction, government conspiracy, and things that go bump in the night – spawning three movies and a spin-off show on its way.
At the time the longest running sci-fi series in Us history, and now with one of the biggest cult followings in the world, barely a week goes by without another rumour of a reboot or a revival. Even today, its influence on prime time TV can be seen, with the creators behind Lost, Desperate Housewives, Fringe, Millennium, and Warehouse 13 all speaking of their love for the show and how they took elements of it for their own.

Speaking in Rotterdam, Netherlands Film Fund director Doreen Boonekamp has delivered an upbeat assessment of the state of the Dutch film industry.
Boonekamp has also revealed details of how the country’s new cash rebate system, introduced last year, is driving up production levels.
Some €78m was spent on Dutch production last year, a considerable hike on production investment in 2013, which was around €14m less.
Boonekamp said, as a result of the new incentive, “a lot of post production work is going back to the Netherlands”.
The incentive offers a cash rebate of 30% on the eligible Dutch spend.
Since the incentive was launched in June 2014, 51 film projects have received a total of €13.6m from the scheme.
These have included high profile projects such as Mike van Diem’s De Surprise, Alex van Warmerdam’s Schneider vs. Bax, Polish feature Math Sucks, Austrian movie The Night Of A Thousand Hours, and Roel Reiné’s epic seafaring yarn Michiel de Ruyter »
