Review: You Are The Maniac! card game

13 November 2012 10:55 AM, PST | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

I’m a huge horror movie fan. Even more so I’m a massive slasher movie fan – give me a set of nubile teens at a camp site being stalked by a masked lunatic and I’m a happy chap. So imagine how excited I was to get an email from the folks at Mythos Labs asking if I’d like to review their new card game, You Are The Maniac!, a horror movie themed card game where you Literally play as The Maniac.

From Mythos Labs’ press release:

Gameplay is fast-paced with a surprising mix of strategy and dark humor. Slash your way through a horror film trilogy with 2 – 4 players, complete with a familiar cast of slasher movie stereotypes we hold dear to our bloodthirsty hearts.

A game consists of 3 movies. During each movie, 13 Victims, including 1 Final Girl, are lined up on The Wall. Players take turns playing Maniac Cards and capturing Victims. »

Rockstar Releases First Official 'GTA V' Artwork

24 October 2012 12:30 PM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

Okay, this barely qualifies as news, but here it is, the first piece of official artwork from Grand Theft Auto V as we await the inevitable onslaught of details next month. What happens next month? Game Informer's GTA V cover story will be out there in the wild, which means we'll get the first public look at the game and likely a release date.

As for this new piece of art, I suppose we could Da Vinci Code this joint, and try to divine new details, but let's just wait patiently and see what emerges next month. In the meantime, there's always Retro City Rampage for your open world crime spree needs.

Medal Of Honor: Warfighter Day 1 Patch Fixes A Long List Of Errors

23 October 2012 12:10 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Electronic Arts has detailed all the fixes included in a launch day patch for Medal of Honor: Warfighter, revealing that game shipped with a massive number of bugs and errors.

Day 1 patches for minor bugs are sadly nothing new in the video game industry these day, however, Warfighter‘s patch details read more like a list of errors found over the course of a beta rather than a few post-release adjustments.

Multiplayer fixes dominate the list (which includes basic things like stopping non-invited players from joining invitation only parties), but there are also several single-player updates that could make a non-patched game unplayable. This part of the list includes some fairly essential things like fixing an issue that makes the controller unresponsive “under certain conditions”, and removing some game “progression stoppers”.

For many buyers this is a non-issue, as they can simply download Medal of Honor: Warfighter‘s patch and move on. »

Editorial: 343 Industries Is Ruining The Halo Franchise

5 October 2012 2:35 PM, PDT | | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Okay, so, I just recently saw the Halo: Forward Unto Dawn article here on Cbm and needless to say, I had sort of a meltdown. Anybody who knows me knows the loathing and disgust I have for Call of Duty, and therefore why I have such distaste for Halo 4. I left a pretty lengthy comment on that article. It's pretty much an editorial in itself. So, some other users said it might be a good idea to actually post it as an editorial. Basically, my point here is: 343 Industries is ruining the Halo franchise. The two games they already "developed" (Halo Anniversary and Halo 4) are abominations to the Halo franchise. 343 had One Job to do with Halo Anniversary: Updated graphics and updated multiplayer... and they Couldn't Even Get That Right! The game was Already Made Ten Years Ago! How can you [frick] it up that much!? I understand all the »

Interview: He's the Chief - 'Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn' Star Daniel Cudmore on Being a Spartan

5 October 2012 11:00 AM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

It takes a big man to step into the shoes of the Master Chief--literally: the Halo super soldier stands at around 6'7" by some estimates. And to play the character, it takes an actor able to show some emotion from behind a polarized glass visor. Enter Daniel Cudmore, who's filled genre roles as hulking characters in features like X-Men: The Last Stand Volturi guard Felix in the Twilight films, with an upcoming role in the Billy Bob Thornton/Eva Longoria redneck action-comedy The Baytown Outlaws .

When we spoke recently about his role in the 5-part web series, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, he talked about how odd it was going from a gamer to playing the Master Chief. "It's funny, because back in the day, my girlfriend--now my wife--bought me Halo 3," he explains, saying that although he didn't know too much about the Halo universe, "I remember playing that game »

'Love in the Wild': Three original girls stay, three go home

"Love in the Wild" picks up right where last week ended - six new girls are there to give the guys a shot at a threesome. And the original women are Not happy about it. At all. Though Summer's lioness analogy is not correct - prides have multiple female lions all the time, with usually only one or two male lions.

Picking Teams

Chase picks Jenna, who looks a lot like Ali in the face, actually; Ryan chooses Natalie; Jesse picks Melissa and Tara is ready to claw her eyes out; Jason picks Vanessa; Ken chooses Lindsey, which leaves Boobs McGee with Ben - and Jenny looks so, so sad. She puts on a brave front, but she looks crushed. Don't worry, Jenny, you are so much prettier than her.

When Jenny gets back to the lean-to, she tries to strong arm Boobs about her connection with Ben, but it's not confident enough. »

A fan favorite, The Running Man wouldn’t have been the same without Dawson’s spot on portrayal of evil host Damon Killian. Five Reasons To Play The 'Game Of Thrones' RPG

15 May 2012 11:06 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

When you play the "Game of Thrones" RPG, you win or you die. Literally. But somewhere along the way our definition of "winning" seems to have deviated from the one used by the folks over at Cyanide Studio.

The game's got everything hardcore "A Song of Ice and Fire" fans would want. There's political intrigue, deception at every turn, heartbreaking deaths and genuinely surprising plot twists. Okay, so maybe those are just the things we're used to from the "Thrones" TV series on HBO, or from the horrors that author George R.R. Martin force feeds us in his ongoing book series, but at least the folks behind the game stayed true to those "Game of Thrones" traits.

MTV News got a chance to play the RPG and decided that it's something that anyone who considers themselves a fan of "Game of Thrones" -- be it the book series, the TV »
