Lara Flynn Boyle Confirms Marriage

Lara Flynn Boyle has confirmed she is now a married woman, after tying the knot with Donald Ray Thomas on Monday. The former star of The Practice met Thomas two years ago and they became friends before starting to date six months ago. A representative for the star tells American publication People, "She's ecstatic. She's very, very happy." The Men In Black II star wed Thomas in the garden of his home in San Antonio, Texas. Boyle, 36, appeared on Showtime's series Huff, as the bipolar character Melody Coatar, and on the TV show Las Vegas, as the owner of a new hotel. She was previously romantically linked to her Twin Peaks co-star Kyle MacLachlan, David Spade and Jack Nicholson, who was 33 years her senior. The couple went public with their relationship at the 1999 Emmy Awards and dated until the end of 2000. »

TBS pilot for Williams, Levi

Ashley Williams and Zachary Levi have been cast as the leads in the TBS pilot Imperfect Union, a workplace comedy from Eric McCormack's Big Cattle Prods. The castings lift the contingency on the half-hour, single-camera project.

Union, set at a switch factory, is described as a romantic comedy that centers on a young woman (Williams) who just took over the job as shop steward from her retired father, and a young man (Levi) who just took over as head of the factory from his father.

The project is based on an idea by McCormack and Michael Forman, his partner in Big Cattle, both of who are executive producing. Don Woodard and Tom Maxwell will serve as showrunner/executive producers in addition to writing.

Levi's credits include ABC's Less Than Perfect and the feature film Big Momma's House 2.

Williams' credits include CBS' How I Met Your Mother and Showtime's Huff.

Levi and Williams are repped by Endeavor. Levi is additionally repped by Hyler Management, and Williams also is repped by Brillstein-Grey Entertainment. »

Lowry, Jackman swing with 'Blackpool'

Huff creator Bob Lowry and Hugh Jackman have teamed for Viva Blackpool, a high-concept light drama project for CBS. CBS snagged the project in spirited bidding with two other networks, giving it a hefty seven-figure put pilot commitment. Based on the BBC's successful miniseries, Viva Blackpool is produced by Sony Pictures TV and BBC Worldwide Prods. It tells the story of Ripley Holden, a sleazy but charismatic low-end casino owner whose dream is to cash in and open a five-star mega-resort on the Las Vegas Strip. Like the BBC series, the CBS version will have a murder mystery at its center and will feature the cast bursting into song-and-dance numbers. »

Turturro, Platt, Sunjata in 'Bronx'

NEW YORK -- John Turturro, Oliver Platt and Daniel Sunjata have been signed to star in the ESPN miniseries The Bronx Is Burning. The ESPN Original Entertainment-Tollin/Robbins Prods. miniseries follows the exploits of the 1977 New York Yankees, which won its first world championship in two decades amid a summer and fall that featured a major blackout, race riots and the notorious Son of Sam killings. Turturro (Barton Fink) will play then-manager Billy Martin, who famously clashed during the season with Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and star player Reggie Jackson. Steinbrenner will be played by Platt (Huff) and Jackson will be played by Sunjata (Rescue Me). »

The members of the TV academy proved that sometimes it's hard to say goodbye. After heavily populating the nominations in the acting categories with cast members from series that already had been canceled, the Academy bestowed Emmys on four performers from shows that are not coming back: Andre Braugher of FX's Thief, Megan Mullally of NBC's Will & Grace, Alan Alda of NBC's The West Wing and Blythe Danner of Showtime's Huff. The wins brought out a lot of emotion. "It's a very nice way to say goodbye, very bittersweet," Danner said backstage after winning her second Emmy for the drama series Huff on the heels of the network's decision to cancel the show after two seasons. »

Stone Begged Writers for Part on 'Huff'

Actress Sharon Stone is such a fan of the TV show Huff, she took the writers out to lunch and begged them to create a part for her on the show. The series features a psychiatrist, played by Hank Azaria, who is experiencing his own midlife crisis. Stone explains, "That show is full of amazing actors. I started watching the show because all of the actors are my favorites - Blythe Danner, Swoosie Kurtz and Hank was in my acting class. I called my agent and said I have to take these writers out to lunch. I took them out to lunch and said, 'Would you write some shows for me because I'm nuts about your show - I'm just crazy about it' and they said 'sure'." The Basic Instinct star even had a specific storyline in mind with her favorite character from the show. She adds, "Oliver (Platt) is so sexy and funny, I said, 'You have to write a love story for me and Oliver' and they said yes, so I did it!" »
