Missed chance - forgettable, 4 March 2009
Author: keenast from Los Angeles

This 'documentary' doesn't shed any light or even glimpses of insight into the matter. After all it's titled 'Hashish'. Could as well have been titled 'Chicken'. The best thing one could say about it is that there's not too much shaky-cam going on. The camera operator was way to relaxed (read stoned) for pulling that of. We learn really nothing about the commercial side, the plant, the history, or the religious side(effects) of hashish. We see endlessly bantering and bickering between some folks living on a small farm in the Rif mountains. We watch endless ramblings of a totally stoned 'philosopher' and that's about it. All in all, it looks like the filmmakers (can we call them that) not only had a good time there but had the chance to sample some of the 'really good quality material' they showed us. But then, they didn't even bother to explain how the different qualities are one of the protagonists in this documentary said: the really good stuff is dangerous. Definitely was for them documentarians!
