Meet the Rest In Peace Department in the first trailer for R.I.P.D., from Red director Robert Schwentke

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Rest In Peace Department, specifically two of its members, played by Jeff Bridges (with fine facial hair) and Ryan Reynolds. The R.I.P.D. (also the name of the movie) has the job of protecting the living from the many souls who refuse to move on once they've died. And before you can say Men In Black, the pair discover a plot that might just bring the whole world to an end. Naturally enough, it's their job to stop it.

Clearly, the gold in R.I.P.D. might just lie in the pairing of Bridges and Reynolds, and they lead a cast that also includes Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker and Robert Knepper. The film, which arrives this summer, has been directed by Robert Schwentke, who helmed the original Red, »

'The Mummy' reboot hires 'Hunger Games' writer

15 February 2013 5:39 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray has been hired to write a screenplay for Universal Pictures' reboot of The Mummy.

The scribe, who also worked on Flightplan and State of Play, will pen an alternative take on the classic horror property set in the modern day, according to Vulture.

Universal previously hired Prometheus co-writer Jon Spaihts to script the project and will reportedly choose between the two screenplays upon their completion.

Len Wiseman will direct The Mummy for the studio with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci producing alongside Sean Daniel.

Total Recall director Wiseman previously told Digital Spy that his take on the property will be "shockingly different" to the financially successful Brendan Fraser-fronted trilogy.

The Mummy is scheduled to begin shooting later this year for a summer 2014 release.

'Lovelace's Peter Sarsgaard on playing the villain: 'Even my mother-in-law has me typecast'

23 January 2013 4:30 PM, PST | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Peter Sarsgaard is accustomed to playing unsavory characters, but the role of Linda Lovelace’s abusive husband in Lovelace, which premiered last night at the Sundance Film Festival, almost stopped him in his tracks. Chuck Traynor masterminded his wife’s pornography career and years after Deep Throat, Lovelace would accuse him of beating her and threatening to kill her if she ever tried to leave him or the sordid business that made her famous. “Being in the place where I am in my life, the role just wasn’t appealing,” says Sarsgaard, whose wife Maggie Gyllenhaal was pregnant with their »

No matter what you thought of Jodie Foster's Golden Globes speech, you have to admit the woman is an all-star actress. She's been in more than 40 films and over 25 TV series, so it was hard to decide what her best role ever could be. It wasn't hard, though, to discuss how good she was in every single one.

Group, what's your favorite Jodie Foster film?

Dorothy Snarker: I absolutely, positively cannot pick just one because she was my very first crush. So there. Rules be damned. For sentimental reasons, Stealing Home because it came out during my formative years and I watched it on a seemingly endless loop on our family's contraband HBO feed. Those blue eyes mesmerized me. For action reasons, Flightplan because she took a role originally written for a male lead and helped to, again, show that women »

New UK Robot & Frank Trailer

9 January 2013 4:36 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

A little indie that can, and at Sundance did, Robot & Frank is a smaller-scale robot sci-fi that will appear amid of forest of blockbuster future flicks and steal all our hearts this year. That's definitely the way it looks from this new UK trailer than will put a broad smile on all but the most recently botoxed faces. Fittingly, stealing is what Frank (Frank Langella) does in Jake Schreier's comedy-drama. He's a jewel thief out to pasture and a little shaky when it comes to his domestic affairs. His attorney son (James Marsden) delivers a little help in the shape of a Peter Sarsgaard-voiced 'bot. Pretty cool, eh? If it can't be a Smash robot, it may as well be him off Flightplan getting you up in the morning.Early buzz has Langella as the standout in a wonderfully eccentric odd-couple caper. Look out, too, for Susan Sarandon »
