‘Freaks of Nature’ Red-Band Trailer: Vampires vs. Zombies vs. Aliens, and humans in between

A few years ago Oren Uziel wrote a script called The Kitchen Sink, a horror-sci-fi-comedy mashup that combined vampires, zombies, and aliens and had Jonah Hill attached to direct until he landed himself an Academy Award nomination and exited the project as fast as he could. Sony then tapped Robbie Pickering (Natural Selection) to direct the picture instead, and now years later, it’s finally set for a release under a new title. Fans of horror comedy might be interested in Freaks of Nature, a bizarre mishmash of Monster Squad and Zombieland, about a small American town that gets caught in a war between the undead.

Starring Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis, Ed Westwick, Vanessa Hudgens, Keegan-Michael Key, Joan Cusack, Bob Odenkirk, Denis Leary, and Cerina Vincent, Freaks of Nature opens just in time for Halloween on October 30th. Watch the trailer below.

Synopsis: In Freaks of Nature, we welcome you to Dillford,

365 Days, 100 Films # 42 - The Dead Undead (2010)

The Dead Undead, 2010.

Directed by Matthew R. Anderson and Edward Conna.

Starring Forrest J Ackerman, Joshua Alba, Luke Goss and Matthew R. Anderson.

Synopsis:

Vampires vs. Zombies in an isolated woods.

Statistically speaking, you’ve probably made a zombie film. Everyone does, students mostly. They’re just so cool, and there’s something about the undead that resonates with those who sit indoors on sunny days watching horror films. Perhaps there’s an unconscious affiliation between the two. Staring mindlessly at screens and all.

They’re also very malleable. Zombie invasions are great backdrops for other, more human, dramas. Arguably, this is what the best zombie films do. The Dead Undead’s unique selling point is that its zombies are not normal zombies. They’re vampires infected with a zombifying virus.

Films like this don’t often work because they’re usually devised over some stoned, late night. “Yeah, man,

Comic-Con Wednesday/Thursday Schedule Announced, /Film’s Peter Sciretta To Appear on ‘The Masters of the Web’ Panel
We're less than two weeks away from the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, and convention organizers have finally released the schedule for the first day of programing. You can find the full schedule on comic-con.org [1], or after the jump I've listed the film and television highlights, which includes the Masters of the Web panel which I've been invited to be a panelist on (In full disclosure, I've been asked to be on this panel for a few years now, but I've only just recently gotten over my fear of speaking in front of large audiences). It should be a fun panel, and I hear they will be giving away some really cool prizes as well. Comic-Con 2011: TV and Movie Panels and Screenings – Update #4

If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.

Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.

Hmm, here’s an interesting matchup: Glee will be in Hall H on Sunday at 10:00; Supernatural will be
