Bank robber befriends mental patient who is a murder suspect
23 September 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"Den som frykter ulven" (2004) or "Cry in the Woods" is underrated at 6.1. (My opinion, of course.) I'd make it at least 7 to 7.5 to indicate that it's a better than average movie. Here's why. The script is creative and takes some chances that pay off. There is novelty in this story that you simply don't see in routine movies. The suspense is maintained throughout. The mystery of it, which involves a murder, is sustained until the very end. The main characters are engaging and well-acted, in some cases very well-acted. This is a movie that's easy to recommend. I'd call this a neo-noir, and critic John Grant has reviewed it favorably in his "Noirish Annex".

This movie has sound source material in a novel. Along the way, it has a good deal to say about psychology and psychiatry. If you want plot details, you can find them elsewhere easily enough. But on this one, I wouldn't spoil the surprises.
