A strong cast with good direction and photography. You will develop a sense of the real life in a modern Russian village by being exposed to the diverse characters that dwell there. A bit quirky at times, I was reminded of the American TV series "Northern Exposure", in many ways. The title refers to a police district, which Russia is completely divided into. The main character is the district "cop on the beat" and the plot revolves around the interactions of the diverse cast. Many excellent and convincing performances. You will leave with a real feeling for Rodina, Mother Russia as it exists away from the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, filled with complex and compelling people, places, and events.
