MADRID -- With ratings flagging, Spanish pubcaster Radio Television Espanola (RTVE) on Thursday unveiled a lineup for the 2005 winter season heavily laden with homegrown fiction. New series include Los Jueves, Paella directed by Goya-award winning director and scriptwriter Iciar Bollain about two women involved with a local neighborhood association. There is also Obsession, about a couple's marital crisis; Al Filo de la Ley, a primetime series revolving around a law firm; and Mujeres, about a woman recently widowed. Spanish TV channels generally pride themselves on their domestic fiction series, with RTVE's television branch, TVE, boasting the two top series, Ana y los Siete and Cuenteme Como Paso. But the pubcaster has seen its weekly ratings trail behind its competitors recently. This follows a shake-up of programming by a new management team put in place by the incoming government elected last March. »
