Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna Reality Show Not on E! Schedule, Network Says

7 July 2017 4:38 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

A recent feud between reality stars Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna has erupted into a tabloid super-scandal, but could the “revenge porn” saga have any impact on the Kardashian family’s E! empire?

Earlier this week, pornographic images exchanged between exes Kardashian and Chyna — who co-star on their own E! series, “Rob & Chyna” — were posted onto social media by Kardashian, prompting Instagram to shut down his account. Since, Chyna has retained lawyer Lisa Bloom, who says her client has filed for a restraining order.

Despite the legal drama, E! says, at this time, the scandal will have no impact on their Kardashian series — but only because “Rob & Chyna” had already been taken off the network’s schedule, prior to this week’s romantic falling out.

“While filming on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ has been ongoing, spin-off ‘Rob & Chyna’ has not been in production for several months and the series is not currently on the E! schedule »

Barry Norman: A Tribute to The Nation’s Film Critic

Author: Cai Ross

With more TV channels then there are bacteria on a lab technician’s wellington boot, and with social media weaponising opinions en masse, these days everyone is a critic. But as far as British TV audiences in the 70s, 80s and 90s were concerned, there was only really one film critic, Barry Norman Cbe, who has sadly passed away this weekend at the age of 83.

Between 1971 and 1998, Norman’s was the positive verdict every studio wanted on their film poster.  With a sprightly, conversational style that sounded like audible handwriting, and a dependable selection of comfortable jumpers to hand, Barry Norman was the nation’s film critic: our Gene Siskel & Roger Ebert rolled into one package.

Coming up through the ranks the old fashioned way, Norman ended up at the BBC via early work as a jobbing journalist and a film critic for various national newspapers.  He »

Beauty vs Beast: Bad Romance

5 June 2017 2:00 PM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Howdy, everybody - Jason from Mnpp here with a brand new round of "Beauty vs Beast" for you on this first Monday of June. Coming up on this first Friday of June a movie called My Cousin Rachel is coming out (you can watch the trailer right here) that stars Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin and is adapted from the 1951 book by Daphne du Maurier (who also wrote The Birds and Rebecca). The book was already turned into a movie once in 1952 with  Richard Burton and Olivia de Havilland (which I have never seen; have you?) - anyway it's one of my favorite genres, the overheated gothic romance, brimming with lace and poisons, and I can't wait.

So in the spirit of such things this week we're tackling one of the greatest of all when it comes to these stories - Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre. There are a couple »

How These 4 Directors Got Their Shorts Produced and Distributed By The Weinstein Company and Lexus

2 June 2017 11:39 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Lexus Short Film Series has once again financed four extraordinary short films from emerging filmmakers that were produced and internationally showcased in the collaboration with Lexus and The Weinstein Company. The project — which was launched in 2013 with the stated goal of “supporting up-and-coming filmmakers to realize their dreams” — entered its fourth edition this year.

The four winning filmmakers from Season 3 faced stiff competition, having been chosen from a group of over 4,400 applicants. Each of the applicants submitted a previously produced short film that was watched by a 10-person committee led by Landon Zakheim, a programmer for Sundance and co-founder of The Overlook Film Festival.

Every film was given a numerical rating from 1-5. Just over 80 filmmakers were then selected to write treatments based on the theme of “Anticipation.” After reading the 80 treatments and identifying the top 20 applicants, top executives from The Weinstein Company and Lexus International joined Zakheim and his »

Lucifer Season 2 Blu-Ray Release Date And Extras Revealed

23 May 2017 11:38 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

While many DC superheroes have been heating up the small screen in recent years, it’s important that we not overlook the other properties the publisher has lent to airwaves, namely Vertigo adaptations such as Lucifer. While being markedly different from its source material, this supernatural police procedural has consistently enthralled viewers, so much that not only did Fox renew it for a third season, but they also had enough confidence in the show to move it to the 8 pm timeslot on Monday nights beginning this fall.

Like I said, this series is a much different beast (pun intended) than the comic books that paved its way, but I have to admit that it certainly went in a more fantastical direction during its sophomore run. As Lucifer Morningstar continued helping Chloe Decker solve murder cases, his life became evermore complicated once his mother escaped Hell and made Earth her new home. »

10 Things We Learned From Fox’s Upfront

15 May 2017 3:43 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Fox’s programming presentation went into overtime on sports Monday afternoon. The first half of the upfront at the Beacon Theater was devoted to the network’s sports operation, which seemed to overshadow the emphasis on primetime entertainment programming.

Joe Marchese, Fox’s newly appointed president of advertising revenue, gave a wonky pitch about the vitality of TV advertising versus the unknown quantities found on Facebook and YouTube. Marchese did have some news for the crowd, however, vowing that there would no longer be conventional ad breaks in FX programming made available via streaming or other on-demand platforms.

Marchese, who is known for pushing radical changes in TV advertising, beamed as he told the crowd how gratified he was to be “bringing this type of viewer-friendly ad innovation to Fox Networks Group.” He also pointed to his own new-ness in the role of Fox ad sales chief. “This is one heck of a third day at work »
