Storyline

Ryan is a lion who wants to go to the wild, where his dad (Samson) once lived. When he gets himself shipped to Africa, his zoo friends (and Samson) work together to bring him back. When they get to Africa, however, the animals find themselves in a pile of danger. They have to fight an evil wildebeest called Kazar. But Kazar's safe compared to the other danger on the island- a volcano that's on the edge of eruption. Can the animals find Ryan and get out of Africa before the volcano erupts in so little time? Goofs

If you watch very closely the edge of Larry's mouth during the first scene in the garbage truck drifting through New York, Larry opens his mouth, and there is a very visible bright line where the interior of his mouth should line up with his lips, but doesn't. It's a tear in the CG model, and should have been fixed before the character was animated. What you're viewing through the tear is the New York city scape. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Samson: So there I was, face to face with the biggest, meanest leopard on this side of the Serengeti. And...
Ryan: You roared so loud, his spots flew clean off. Dad I've heard this like a billion times.
Samson: Do you know the one where I made the laughing hyenas...
Ryan: Cry? Yep.
Samson: The croc attack?
Ryan: Dad.
Samson: OK. Think.
Ryan: Yeah, you do that.
[chuckles]

It's good a movie for kids...
18 April 2006 | by See all my reviews

The Wild was advertised as a movie for kids, and it lived up to it's billing. I saw it this past weekend with my 5 year-old. It had a good story line and enough action and music to keep him entertained. He has already asked can we buy it when it comes out on DVD. Since it is a clean movie I will happily get it for him. I didn't have to cringe or be on edge because of suggestive dialog or foul language like Ice Age 2 has. I don't enjoy exposing my son to entertainment that contains language he cannot repeat. If you want to treat your kids to a real kid's flick, take them to see this. It's not a contender for an Oscar, but you'll enjoy it, too.
