Lots of posters in the Twitter-Wood feed seemed to be shocked about one thing or another today, whether it was Michael Ian Black reacting to news of Natalie Portman's pregnancy or David Spade commenting on Amber Portwood's domestic battery charge.
Meanwhile, Paul Feig didn't seem shocked about his problems flying out of JFK yesterday so much as he was concerned with figuring out alternative means to get to London, Judd Apatow was afraid of how "Rabbit Hole" might make him feel, and Omar Doom likely frightened some people with the money he's been trying to use.

Jason Segel is one of the hottest comedic stars in film and television today. Long before starring in the hit CBS series, How I Met Your Mother, and his roles in movies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Knocked Up, Segel starred in two short lived television series, NBC’s “Freaks and Geeks” (co-starring at the time unknown actors James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Linda Cardellini), and Fox’s ”Undeclared” (co-starring Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel). What do these shows have in common? They were created by director/writer Judd Apatow, who is behind movie hits including Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin, as well as other films which Segel has starred in. Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared were great shows that never seemed to catch on with audiences. Segel told us that when both television shows were canceled, Apatow made it his mission to prove the networks made the »
As we reported last week, Shelley Malil, who had a brief role in the hit movie “The 40 Year Old Virgin”, received a life prison sentence in California. This came after he attacked his former girlfriend, Kendra Beebe, stabbing her 23 times.
The incident took place a year ago. Malil attacked Beebe out of jealous motivation. She was reportedly drinking wine with David Maldonado. She survive the stabbing and was able to testify at the trial against Malil. »
Larry King made history last night by signing off on his last installment of "Larry King Live," but not everyone watching was a huge fan. Actually, there were a few critical grumbles in the feed today, with Greg Grunberg sounding off about Larry, Greg Mottola calling out the MPAA with a disagreement and Damon Lindelof calling out NBC's "The Cape."
Yesterday also brought one of the great accomplishments in trending hashtag use of 2010, however. Patton Oswalt and Jon Hurwitz led the charge their own picks for "Unfairly Maligned Film Characters," and the rest of Twitter just sort of followed along. Check out the whole archive of those posts on Twitter, as well as a couple of my favorites after the jump.

"Undeclared" is now airing on IFC, and we thought we'd take this opportunity to revisit the show that further cemented broadcast television's inability to recognize the genius of Judd Apatow. Every week, Matt Singer and Alison Willmore will be offering their thoughts on two more episodes.

"They could all be the one and you don't know until you sleep with them. All of them!" -- Lloyd
Our second two-parter in a row on "Undeclared" really pushes forward the main storyline of the series: the on-and-off-again-then-awkwardly-off-then-kind-of-back-on-then-off-again romance of Steven and Lizzie. With Eric finally and completely out of the picture, Lizzie begins voraciously flirting with Steven, but Lloyd mistakes her wandering around their suit in just a bra and pajama bottoms »

We don’t usually come across stories about celebrities who have killed people (or attempted to kill people) that often, but this week there are at least three coming out of Tinseltown. The first story, which we first reported back in June, has to do with former Melrose Place actress Amy Locane. Locane is being indicted on charges of aggravated manslaughter and assault by automobile after killing a motorist in New Jersey. She admitted at the scene that she had been drinking that day. If convicted, she faces up to thirty-five years in prison. The second celeb to face the court this week is Shelley Malil, the actor from The 40-Year-Old Virgin, who received a life sentence yesterday for attempted murder. Malil stabbed his ex-girlfriend Kendra Beebe twenty times in 2008 after she spent time with another man. He will be eligible for parole in twelve years. Finally, the bizarre case »

Actor Shelley Malil has been sentenced to life imprisonment after he was convicted for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend.
The 40-Year-Old Virgin star was found guilty of viciously stabbing Kendra Beebe after a three-week trial in September.
Malil claimed he had never intended to hurt Beebe and had acted in self defence when he lashed out in the dark during the incident in 2008, stabbing her more than 20 times.
He told the jury at California's San Diego County Superior Court that he thought he was being attacked from behind following a bust-up with Beebe's pal David Maldonado.
He was also found guilty on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Malil, 45, was sentenced in court on Thursday when Judge Harry Eilas ordered him to serve life behind bars, with the possibility of parole in nine years' time. »
Shelley Malil is paying dearly for his crime. The 40-Year-Old Virgin actor, who played one of Steve Carell's stereo shop colleagues, was sentenced Thursday to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend. "I want to do whatever I need to do to make sure I make right from the wrong that I did," he said in court. Malil was convicted in September of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after less than four hours of jury deliberations. He had admitted to stabbing ex Kendra Beebe, but claimed he became disoriented when he went to her San Diego home and found another man there, leading him to stab at a figure he thought was attacking »
The “nerdy guy losing his virginity” plot has been around a long time in movies. Typically, the nerd is just a generally hapless character. He’s the kind of guy that, even though in his attempt to cure his “problem” he may do things that make him seem like a jerk, we know deep down that he’s a good guy who deserves to achieve his goal, e.g. Steve Carrell in The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Then, on the other hand, there’s Robert Putka’s short film Hooka Face and the Virgin Boy, in which the director casts himself as a loathsome, horny teenager whom you wish never makes the big score — even when he’s paying for it. This is a comedy that doesn’t rely on jokes about near-miss exploits. Instead, the humor comes out of how repulsive Robert can act. A lot of humor.
Ok, that’s a little harsh. »

Elizabeth Edwards showed up in numerous memorial tweets earlier this week, but even more posts surfaced today to express disgust over the Westboro Baptist Church's decision to picket her funeral. The announcement did inspire Michael Ian Black to declare a new item to scratch off of his life's bucket list, though.
In other topics, Denis Leary applauded Miley Cyrus for video of the singer-actress smoking a bong. His commentary, along with Ice-t's reaction to Wesley Snipes going to jail and Damon Lindelof on the "Community" Christmas special's "Lost" jab has been retweeted after the jump.

So who in Twitter-Wood is thankful for Howard Stern sticking it out for another five years with Sirius Radio? Well, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris and Brent Spiner for starters. Much of our feed breathed a collective sigh of relief this morning when news of Stern's renewed deal broke.
As for Seth Meyers, I don't know how he felt about the Stern announcement, but he was appreciative of Mindy Kaling's congratulatory tweet today after he made headlines as the next White House Correspondents' Association Dinner host. His reaction, along with Greg Mottola on "Superbad 2," Jon Favreau on doing the Soulja Boy dance and David Slade on "Eclipse" await you after the jump

Fans of Judd Apatow who knew his name well before The 40 Year-Old Virgin hit theaters in 2005 should hold onto their hats. Variety is reporting, though unofficially, that a 10-year reunion for the cast of Freaks and Geeks — the coming-of-age high school series that survived only one season from the year 2000 — will be staged for an event at PaleyFest 2011. Apparently Apatow revealed the reunion through his Twitter over the weekend and the Paley Center has since confirmed the fact that a Q&A with the cast and producers is definitely in the cards. The official announcement regarding the TV festival won’t hit until next week, but this sounds like a done deal.
Since many of the series stars like Seth Rogen, Jason Segel and James Franco have since catapulted into stardom this should be quite the reunion. Other cast members include Linda Cardellini, John Francis Daley, Martin Starr, Samm Levine and Busy Phillips, »
