50 of the Funniest Movie Quotes Ever

11 hours ago | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

It's probably safe to assume that the most-quoted genre in all of cinema is probably comedy. A good comedy — and there have been many over the years — can come up with at least five or or six above-average zingers, lines that are sure to be remembered, cherished and repeated to the point where it stops being funny ... and then comes around to being even funnier.

Here are some of the funniest quotes from 50 of our favorite comedies — in meme form, for your re-posting convenience. Share the laughter, why don'tcha?

1. 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' (2005)

2. 'Airplane!' (1980)

3. 'Along Came Polly' (2004)

4. 'American Pie' (1999)

5. 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' (2004)

6. 'Arthur' (1981)

7. 'Beverly Hills Cop' (1984)

8. 'The Big Lebowski' (1998)

9. 'Billy Madison' (1995)

10. 'Blazing Saddles' (1974)

11. 'The Blues Brothers' (1980)

Kevin Hart Gets Rowdy In Let Me Explain Red Band Trailer

13 June 2013 8:33 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Warning: This trailer contains audio that is Nsfw! It is red band after all. Kevin Hart has been a outrageous scene-stealer in comedies like The 40 Year Old Virgin, Think Like a Man, and The Five-Year Engagement. And with each of these eye-catching and hilarious performances, he's gained new admirers in audiences and in the industry. But when Hart's not cracking wise in moves and television, he's touring the countries as a house-packing stand up comedian. In 2012, he toured with a comedy show called "Let Me Explain," and coming soon to theaters you can see the set that sold out Madison Square Garden. That's 18,200 seats, guys. In the red band trailer courtesy of Yahoo, you can see Hart struggling to find fans on the street, arguing with his friends about proper tour bus etiquette (shitting on the bus incurs heavy fines), and of course performing before thousands at Madison Square. »

13 Lessons Learned From Losing Your Virginity In Film

12 June 2013 7:16 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

June 12 marks the 15th anniversary of the release of "Can't Hardly Wait."

The famed high school movie told the story of a group of students celebrating their last day of classes, complete with yearbook signing, underage drinking, and one wannabe-gangster hellbent on losing his virginity. In celebration of the anniversary of "Can't Hardly Wait," we've compiled 13 lessons on losing your virginity from films.

"Can't Hardly Wait": The best way to convince someone to have sex with you is to get locked in a bathroom with them.

"The Graduate": Don't have sex with your parents' friend.

"American Beauty": Don't have sex with your friend's dad.

"Almost Famous": Do go to Greenville if you want to lose your virginity.

"Fast Times at Ridgemont High": If it happens in a baseball dugout covered in graffiti, he may not call again.

"Liberal Arts": Pick the right time to »

This Is The End – The Review

Review by Barbie Snitzer

This is the hilarious (hilarious!) story of six friends who did not pick to ride out the Apocalypse trapped in a Hollywood mansion and make confessional tapes that reveal what happens when famous actors stop being famous and start struggling to survive.

The Real End of Days, north side of Sunset Boulevard.

I am a Movie Snob. I even have a site, www.lemoviesnob.com.

I avoid movies I suspect to be laden with CGI.

I do not see movies that have monsters and gore.

I do not see movies about the Bible.

I assume movies about the Apocalypse are part of the “Left Behind” series and therefore vehemently avoid them. I feel confident with this stance as I do not expect there to be a sequel to “Apocalypse Now.”

I do not get excited about Judd Apatow movies.  Although I have not seen his entire œuvre, »

Hollywood's latest craze: the over-40 female actor

11 June 2013 4:00 PM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

The film industry usually only has eyes for younger actresses, but a new report indicates that nine out of 10 top earners are over the age of 37

In 1962, a 21-year-old named Nora Ephron interviewed for a job at Newsweek. She said she wanted to be a writer. She was quickly assured that women did not become writers at Newsweek, and was offered a job sorting the mail for $55 a week. How things have changed.

In 1990, Ephron was Oscar-nominated for writing When Harry Met Sally. In it, Meg Ryan's Sally has an existential freak out. "And I'm gonna be Forty!" she wails. "When?" asks Billy Crystal's Harry, baffled. Through her sobs, she manages to articulate: "Some day!" For Sally, 40 is a bleak deadline, the end of all promise. How things have changed.

This week, the Hollywood Reporter magazine has run a cover story trumpeting the "revenge of the over-40 actress »

Top 7 Comedy Casts of the Past Decade

6 June 2013 8:00 AM, PDT | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.

Beginning with this trailer back in February, I’ve hated the marketing for The Internship. It looks like an unfunny Google ad that hopes everybody still really likes the Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson pairing. To be fair, this film does have an appealing cast on paper. I like Vaughn and Wilson, and there’s a funny film to be made with them, John Goodman, Rose Byrne, Josh Gad, Aasif Mandvi, and the rest. I’m just not feeling good about this being it.

Still, maybe The Internship will be much better than the trailers and TV spots have made it seem. That’s something we can find out this weekend. Right now I want to stop with the speculation and instead look back on some of my favorite recent comedies and their awesome casts. I stuck to films whose main goal is »

Filmmaker Report Card - Judd Apatow

26 May 2013 9:06 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Anthony Stokes assesses the career of Judd Apatow....

Comedy seems to be like a mechanical bull, with many people holding on for dear life and not quite realizing they've fallen off (I'm looking at you Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and especially Eddie Murphy). Few people have had more success producing, writing, and directing comedies than Judd Apatow. At this point he's the godfather of American comedy cinema, kickstarting the careers of comedic titans such as Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd to name but two. He takes people who are naturally funny and teaches them how to be good actors and make good movies, for the most part.

Judd Apatow is not somebody who gets a whole lot of credit, which is unfortunate. It's rare for genre directors to get a lot of praise and awards recognition and Apatow is no different. However, his influence on American comedy in not only movies, »

A 'Freaks And Geeks' Kickstarter Film? Judd Apatow Sets Record Straight

23 May 2013 9:10 AM, PDT | Filmology | See recent Filmology news »

Kickstarter is all the buzz in Hollywood these days, with dedicated fans hoping that their favorite television show will be next to make a reunion movie. So while we recently chatted with Judd Apatow after receiving the Peabody Award for Girls, we asked him if his 1999 hit Freaks and Geeks would ever take that route.

"I don't think we aren't interested in doing it because we like how it ended. So we don't feel like opening it up again," he said. Laughing, "But in a way, everything I do is sort of like a sequel."

Sequels and reunions is definitely something that the writer and producer is used to. From Seth Rogen to James Franco and Jason Segel, Apatow has worked with many of the same actors over the years in hugely successful films like Pineapple Express, Knocked Up, Anchorman, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. »

Last Vegas Trailer: Morgan Freeman Probably Shouldn't Have Mixed Red Bull And Vodka

16 May 2013 2:12 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Comedies about older men cutting loose and reclaiming their youth almost always tread the horrible, familiar path of Viagra jokes and sentimentality. The Bucket List taught us that much. And yet, it's hard to completely turn a blind eye to Last Vegas, a comedy that appears to essentially be The Hangover for retirement-age men, but which has a cast jammed with men you'd looked up to for so long that you'll show up dutifully in the theater just because they tell you to. Michael Douglas. Morgan Freeman. Robert De Niro. Kevin friggin Kline. And that's just the main cast. Among the supporting players are Mary Steenburgen (never forget how hilarious she was in Step Brothers), Romany Malco (never forget how hilarious he was in The 40 Year Old Virgin) and Jerry Ferrara (never forget. Ok, he was just fine as Turtle on Entourage, whatever). The movie is directed by Jon Turteltaub, »

7 Badass Actors Who Sacrificed Their Bodies For Art

2 May 2013 10:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Like any workplace, injuries happen all the time on set – the only difference is that you don’t tend to burn your genitals while organizing a meeting or suffer major brain injury while carpooling for lunch, unless you suck at driving. On film sets, despite every precaution, these things seem a lot more organic. That said, it’s way more rare when an actor or actress willingly undergoes physical harm, either for the sake of the art or through sheer dedication to the role. I’m not talking about poor Tippi Hedren or Peter Lorre being forced to by their directors – no, these are actors who only had themselves to blame. For the sake of brevity I’ve also excluded crazy people who like to flip around, like Jackie Chan and Jet Li, from the list. They transcend a list like this, but there are plenty of other actors who gave their bodies to the craft in »

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Guilt Trip’ Marred by Maddeningly Formulaic Script

30 April 2013 5:45 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – “The Guilt Trip” is hideously uninspired dreck of the most shameful variety. It casts two major yet mismatched talents and refuses to utilize their distinctive gifts for the entirety of its running time. All they’re required to do is sleepwalk through a plot so uninspired that audiences will have no problem predicting its path with their eyes closed and their ears covered.

Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen certainly rank as one of the least convincing mother-son duos in movie history. There wasn’t a single instant in which I believed that this unlikely pair were related in any way, apart from sharing the same frame. Rogen does a nice job of portraying the squirmy straightman, but Streisand is such a cartoonish caricature of smothering mother love that she appears to have been spawned directly from a petri dish of clichés. She’s as believable a mother as Patricia Heaton is a Midwesterner. »

The remodeled gourmet kitchen features a sleek mahogany center island, with the entire house feeling very beachy thanks to its white walls and light floors. Our favorite feature (besides the amazing view) is the master suite, which has its own fireplace and wall of glass that leads to a private patio -- connecting to the downstairs via a spiral staircase. Graham Parker isn’t quite ready to give up his rock and roll to act, but in Judd Apatow’s This Is 40, he put his acting chops to the test as a rock and roll legend with less than stellar album sales.

This past week Mr. Parker and I discussed his role in the film, the reunion of The Rumour, and getting up at the crack of dawn to be on set. Check out our discussion below.

From the director of Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin comes an unfiltered, comedic look inside the life of an American family. Blu-ray Review: Judd Apatow’s Underrated ‘This is 40’ Boasts A-Grade Extras

27 March 2013 8:41 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Why should Judd Apatow and Lena Dunham have to apologize for making films about white upper-class people, considering they are indeed members of the white upper-class? Does their whiteness make their voices any less worthy of being heard? Is it the painstakingly intimate nature of their comedy that rubs some viewers the wrong way? Would these viewers prefer impersonal formulaic retreads populated by token representatives of every race on earth? I can’t imagine anything more dull.

This is 40” may not be Apatow’s finest hour on film (that remains his game-changing debut effort, “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”), but it is still a splendidly insightful comedy chockfull of deliriously amusing vignettes. It also shows the director attempting to mine deeper emotional territory in the scenes between middle-aged couple Pete and Debbie (played by Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann, reprising their roles from “Knocked Up”). Apatow has gotten flack for »
