Good way of pointing out the new problem in the new era, 8 April 2004

This movie is a masterpiece in presenting the new problem of the new era via comparing it with the old problem of the past in an indirect way in the hidden messages behind the scene.

In the old time, especially during the Cultural Revolution, there were ears everywhere and every one could be listening to your most private talks and thus you are risking being persecuted due to what you said. In the new era of the highly competitive capitalistic economy, everyone is concentrating on making money and not caring about others so you have nobody to talk about how you feel. The movie criticized both of these extremes.
