Chris D (Desjardins), probably best known for his work with The Flesh Eaters & Divine Horsement, has created a rather disturbing and creepy movie about heroin addiction with "I Pass For Human".A young woman, Jane, has lost her boyfriend, Dax, to an overdose. Dax's half-sister, Mila, is another junkie who recommends that Jane call this guy that also lost his girlfriend to an overdose recently. So, Jane hooks up with Rick and eventually finds out that HE'S a junkie also. Jane eventually finds herself involved with heroin too, and begins to see people that aren't there, a little quirk with Dax that she'd noticed, he seemed to see former friends that had OD'd....and now she's seeing things like Rick's creepy ex, Azami. Seems like these lost souls are feeding off the living (just heroin addicts, I guess) and in some cases they're just adding to their numbers by helping people along. This is definitely a creepy movie, not badly done at all, but there's not really an focus on any OTHER part of society except this doomed bunch of people sinking further and further into the mire, and after a while that just gets to be a bit much, or I thought so, anyway. It does feature quite a bit of excellent music courtesy of...guess who? The opening track, "Miss Muerte" (from the CD of the same name) is probably something I'd like to get my hands on sometime soon, it's EXCELLENT.Anyway, back to the movie...I thought it was different & interesting but it IS fairly depressing, and yet it has an oddness to it that made it quite appealing to me. Needless to say, this will not be for all tastes. 7 out of 10.
