John Ostrander, Temporary Celebrity!

14 August 2016 5:00 AM, PDT | | See recent Comicmix news »

Last week I gave a review of the Suicide Squad movie. This week, I’m talking about my trip to NYC for the premiere.

I got in to the East Coast on 7/31 and stayed with my friends Tam and Kev English over in New Jersey, near to where I used to live. Tom Mandrake and Jan Duursema, who also live in the area, were going to be in town Sunday night before going on a trip so we all got together for a nice meal. Hilarity ensued.

Tom and Jan also gave me a box full of Kros: Hallowed Ground booty. This is stuff that will be going out to our subscribers and it is killer cool.

I took the train into Manhattan on Monday to join my old bud and oft-time editor and my date for the evening, the lovely and effervescent Mike Gold.  We were meeting for a pre-festivities lunch. »

Han Solo: what we know about his origins, and his movie

6 June 2016 5:08 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Star Wars’ scruffy-lookin’ nerf herder, Mr Han Solo, is getting his own movie. Here’s what we know...

Possible spoilers (we're guessing, though) lie ahead for Rogue One, and for the Han Solo movie.

So, Han Solo is getting a spin-off movie. As part of Disney’s cinematic expansion of the Star Wars saga, a prequel film is now in development to explore the backstory of Harrison Ford’s iconic war hero/smuggler. The only cast member currently confirmed is Alden Ehrenreich, who has been handed some very big shoes/cool black waistcoats to fill as the new Han Solo.

And before you dismiss this movie as a bad idea, it’s worth remembering that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are the guys directing it. They’ve already brought us Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, the 21 Jump Street revival and The Lego Movie. If there’s »

Star Wars: Reshoots Going Rogue (One)

3 June 2016 10:15 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Well well, heard any news about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story recently? Here's your soundtrack for this post:

It all started with a source telling Page Six: “The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and Rogue One will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July.”

At the bottom of the post was an additional comment from the source that alleviated a bit of worry for me (worry spurred by the “Disney in panic” headline): “The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting. Coming off The Force Awakens, there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can. »

The Week in Star Wars – Ewan McGregor talks The Force Awakens, Boba Fett in Rogue One, more movies after Episode IX, Kevin Smith’s role in The Force Awakens revealed and more

Your weekend edition of The Week in Star Wars has a look at the costumes for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Harrison Ford presenting Star Wars Land, more movies after Episode IX and writer-director Kevin Smith’s role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally revealed…

We’re kicking things off this week by looking – get this – past Star Wars: Episode IX. When Disney first announced they’d purchased the rights to make more Star Wars movies, they initially announced a new trilogy to take us up to 2019, which was then followed up announcements for spin-off (or Anthology) movies in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (with rumours of a Boba Fett one in there too). It was assumed by the fanbase that this new trilogy would then mark the end of Star Wars. No so, says Disney’s Bob Iger. »
