Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • A couple has sex after sending their obese son to a mental hospital.
  • A security guard has an affair and his wife later leaves him.

Violence & Gore

  • 9/11 Terrorist Attacks are mildly referenced, as well as a character who survived but lost many colleagues, and he describes his feelings towards their deaths. The detail is disturbing but not overly graphic.
  • A man punches a psychologist in the head (off-screen) after threatening to hit him with a chair and then running away. The psychologist is later shown with blood on his head, grinning weirdly.
  • A morbidly obese young boy is implied to be a psychopath. He melts plastic soldier dolls, bullies other classmates and reads books on trapping and skinning animals, much to the disgust of his parents. It's later implied that they have sent him away to a mental hospital.
  • A woman commits suicide (off-screen).
  • An elderly lady, implied to be suffering from some sort of dementia or Alzheimer's, attempts to shoe her friend off a balcony.
  • A security guard hits his friend, who falls over and is mildly injured.

Profanity

  • One use of the word "faggot" directed towards a character implied to be gay.
  • Uses of the phrase "sand-monkey" (a derogatory term for Muslims), used by one boy to bully a Middle-Eastern boy in school.
  • A teacher shouts out that a boy has a "heart made of shit and splinters".

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The references to 9/11 may bother some viewers. These references include discussing the deaths of people in the Twin Towers, news reports about the attacks, characters getting nervous when around planes or elevators and a character with repressed PTSD.
  • The scenes with Charlie, an extremely overweight, mentally ill child who hates his parents and bullies other students, may bother some viewers. The scenes in which he bullies a Muslim child may also offend some viewers.
  • Avi, a security guard character, frequently loses his temper and even punches his best friend and shoves him to the ground at one point. This may frighten some younger viewers.
  • An old lady is implied to have dementia and some of her actions may frighten or disturb viewers.
  • A woman cries not long after learning that her competitor, another cake decorator, has hanged herself. This and the general subject of suicide might bother viewers.
