Invisible Girl: Alba makes it 'Fantastic Four'

Jessica Alba has been cast as the Invisible Girl for 20th Century Fox's upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation Fantastic Four. Alba, whose features include Sin City and Into the Blue, beat out stiff competition for the role that included Rachel McAdams and Elizabeth Banks. She joins Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd as the adventure-seeking quartet made up of scientist Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic (Gruffudd); his love interest, Susan Storm/the Invisible Girl (Alba); her brother, Johnny Storm/the Human Torch (Chris Evans); and Reed's best friend, Benjamin Grimm/the Thing (Chiklis). The four develop superpowers when their spaceship is exposed to cosmic radiation. Tim Story is set to direct. Producers include Avi Arad's Marvel Studios, 1492 Pictures, Constantin Films and Ralph Winter. At Fox, TCF senior vp Alex Young is overseeing for division head Hutch Parker. Simon Kinberg is writing the script. Alba is repped by Endeavor. »

Stahl pulling double duty in 'Sin CIty'

Nick Stahl is traveling to Sin City for Dimension Films, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller. The film, composed of three intertwining vignettes revolving around a dark set of characters who call the fictional corrupt town home, is based on Miller's graphic novel series and is shooting in Austin, Texas. Stahl, who is in final negotiations to join the cast, would play the dual roles of Junior and Yellow Bastard, sources said. Stahl's co-stars include Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jaime King, Jessica Alba, Elijah Wood and Brittany Murphy. Rodriguez and Miller co-wrote the script and are co-directing and co-producing the film. Rodriguez's partner, Elizabeth Avellan, also will produce through their Troublemaker Studios label. Stahl will segue from Sin to another season of Carnivale for HBO. He is repped by UTA, Imparato/Fay Management and attorney Ken Richman. »

Dimension sends Alba to 'Sin City'

Jessica Alba, who next stars in MGM's underwater actioner Into the Blue, is in final negotiations to jump into Sin City for Dimension Films. Shooting is under way in Austin, Texas, on the project, which is being co-written, -directed and -produced by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, the studio said. Miller penned the graphic novel series that inspired the film. Sin City will comprise three intertwining vignettes revolving around a dark set of characters who call the fictional corrupt town home. Alba will star in a section opposite Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke playing Nancy, a beautiful exotic dancer known as "the sweetheart of Sin City." Jaime King, Elijah Wood and Brittany Murphy round out the cast. Rodriguez's partner, Elizabeth Avellan, will also produce through their Troublemaker Studios label. Alba is perhaps best known for her work on James Cameron's Dark Angel. She starred most recently in Universal Pictures' dance drama Honey. She is repped by Chris Henze at Thruline Entertainment, Endeavor and attorney Warren Dern. »

Tarantino To Make 'Kill Bill' Animation

Maverick director Quentin Tarantino is planning an animated prequel to his Kill Bill movies - to show the early life of the deadly assassin. The film will be drawn in the Japanese manga style already seen in Kill Bill Volume 1 and will focus on the three men - pimp Estebian Vihaio and martial arts masters Hattori Hanzo and Pei Mai - who turned Bill into a ruthless killer. The Oscar-winning writer and director will write and produce the film. Tarantino has also speculated that he could return to Kill Bill's world in 15 years time to follow the daughter of a character killed in the first film. The popular filmmaker - who took five years off after directing Jackie Brown to return to the screen with the violent revenge saga - is next set to direct a segment of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's comic book adaptation Sin City. »

Wood sparks role in WIP's 'Illuminated'

Going from middle-earth to Ukraine, Elijah Wood is set to star in Warner Independent Pictures' Everything Is Illuminated. Liev Schreiber is making his directorial debut on the feature, which is being produced by Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf. Based on Jonathan Safran Foer's best-selling novel and adapted by Schreiber, Illuminated tells the story of a young American Jewish man (Wood) and his quest to find the woman who saved his grandfather in a small Ukrainian town that was wiped off the map by the Nazis. A drama with many comedic elements, the movie starts shooting June 14 in Prague. The film is co-financed by Turtletaub and WIP. Wood is shooting Odd Lot's Hooligans in London and has Sin City next up for Dimension. He also appears in Focus Features' Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which opens today. Wood is repped by WMA and attorney Craig Emanuel. »

Spy Kids director Robert Rodriguez is collecting an all-star cast for his new film and has so far targeted Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy and Benicio Del Toro. According to multiple sources, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, Kate Bosworth and Jaime King have been targeted for the film, an adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel series. Some of the actors have already signed on for parts in the pic, while others are only in discussions or have just received offers to join the cast.
