This movie is a different kind of love story with a love that can never be but you have to see it to really understand - no spoilers here:) George's character, Jack Foley, is kind of goofy and extremely likable all in one. Of course it is that way, Jack is George's character. The movie has in my opinion a dark kind of humor. It takes George Clooney's character and makes humorous and light stuff that looks like it shouldn't. It is based on a book by Elmore Leonard. The book was incredible and the movie was just as good. The movie nailed the attitude, style, and story of the book so well it doesn't matter which one you choose to enjoy first. If you like George Clooney and his movies then you will definitely like this one.
