  • Anachronisms: The blue inflatable armchair in the swimming pool wasn't probably on sale when Max was a child.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Fanny Chenal's eyes are blue (and quite striking) as an adult, but the little girl that plays her has brown eyes.

  • Anachronisms: When Maximillian as a child selects from the various vintages of wines, he chooses 1983, which would make him closer to 35 years of age in present day, not the 45 or so that Russell Crowe appears to be.

  • Factual errors: Max uses a Palm Treo 600/650, which cannot do video teleconferencing.

  • Continuity: When Christie Roberts finds the scorpions in her window in the morning, Madame Duflot races to her aid with a whisk broom. When she gets there, she starts hitting the scorpions with a fly swatter.

  • Errors in geography: When Max gets to the D3 needing Gemma's help, he is less than 40km from his meeting with the Notaire Auzet. When he gets to the intersection he is facing south and the sun is to his left, meaning it is morning and his appointment was for the afternoon, giving him plenty of time to arrive at his destination. We are shown him by a tree telling Gemma to reschedule and this would not have been necessary.

  • Factual errors: Max plans his date with Fanny for Sunday night- on the day of the date we see his assistant Kenny losing a lot of money trading on the bond markets in London which are of course closed on a Sunday!

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Max asks his sibling Christie where she got the "Halston" at the Duflot's dinner party. The dress she wears in the scene is actually made by modern day Los Angeles cotton manufacturer American Apparel.

  • Factual errors: It is constantly suggested that Max works in 30 St. Mary Axe, one of London's best known recent buildings designed by Norman Foster, which has a radial plan with a strong diagonal diagrid frame wrapping the exterior wall. The interior shots of the firm take place inside a standard rectilinear office building with regular columns. (See Basic Instinct 2 (2006) for scenes that appear to have been filmed inside 30 St. Mary Axe.)

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Max is playing tennis at La Siroque, the sound that the tennis racquets make does not correspond with the type of old racquets they have. The sound is from a modern tennis racquet.
