Jesse McCartney may have gotten his start in music, but the now 25-year-old has thrived on television -- from his award-winning performance on All My Children to roles in Summerland and Greek, McCartney has proven he's got chops to make it on the small screen.

But a new role is testing every fiber of McCartney's being in order to believably bring to life Army Wives' newest recruit, Private Tim Truman. ETonline caught up with the actor to find out how he prepared -- both physically and mentally -- to play a soldier and what fans can expect from this revamped season.

ETonline: How did you prepare, mentally, to play a soldier?

Jesse McCartney: With any character, the main objective is to bring authenticity to the role. But this is a little more sensitive because our troops are still over there so when you're talking about war, people are going to be a little more hyper-critical »

TV Land has ordered to series Kirstie’s New Show, a sitcom starring Cheers vets Kirstie Alley and Rhea Perlman and Seinfeld‘s Michael Richards.

Formerly known as Giant Baby, the comedy stars Alley as Maddie Banks, a Broadway star whose world suddenly changes when the son she gave up for adoption (played by Eric Petersen) shows up after 26 years.

Perlman, meanwhile, plays Maddie’s best friend and assistant; Richards is her kooky limo driver.

Oh, Zac! The hunky actor was seen in a NYC sex shop on Jan. 16, but Disney fans need not fear — he was just filming his new movie.

Zac Efron has come a long way since his Summerland and High School Musical days — this Disney star is all grown up. While filming his new movie Are We Officially Dating?, Zac, 25, was seen browsing in Manhattan’s West Village Fantasy World sex store, where he picked up a few supplies. We wonder if he kept them!

Jesse McCartney Enlists In Army Wives Season 7

Ever wondered how actor and singer Jesse McCartney might look in uniform? Fans of the Lifetime series Army Wives will find out when season seven kicks off this year. McCartney will act as Private Tim Truman.

Season seven of Army Wives is already taking shape. As I recently reported, actor Burgess Jenkins will play Maggie’s husband, Staff Sgt. Eddie Hall and Tony Award nominee, Joshua Henry, has been cast as Quincy, Latasha’s husband. Maggie is Torrey DeVitto and Ashanti is Latasha, by the way. There’s lot’s of new characters and all new drama in store.

Now, THR reports that Jesse McCartney has also been cast. His is a recurring role. The actor who has enjoyed stints on Greek, Summerland and All My Children, will play a very motivated, “enthusiastic” young soldier.
