Half Crown lines up biopic

20 June 2013 2:05 PM, PDT | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

Colorado-based Half Crown Media has hired UK screenwriter Bart Gavigan to write an untitled biopic about the British missionary Hudson Taylor

Gavigan [pictured] has a proven record of bringing historical dramas to the big screen, such as 2003’s Luther starring Alfred Molina and Joseph Fiennes and the 2006 film End Of The Spear, which also concerns Christian missionaries.

Taylor was a 19th century Protestant missionary and medical student sent to China.

He was renowned for his sensitivity to the local culture, treatment of thousands of opium victims and for establishing the organisation China Inland Mission that was responsible for 18,000 conversions.

“This film has enormous potential,” said producer and Half Crown Media chairman Ken Haron. “The universal appeal of this extraordinary drama deserves the talents of Bart Gavigan and others who together will create an outstanding production and worldwide release.”

The project is out to cast and investors. »

Last Resort, Season 1, Episode 12: “The Pointy End of the Spear

Written by Ron Fitzgerald

Directed by Paris Barclay

Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on ABC

Too often, such episodes end up becoming unwitting eulogies for what the show could have been, the storylines it could have explored, and every so often, they end with a cliffhanger crucial to the story that will never get resolved. Show co-creator Shawn Ryan, however, has had some experience in working with superb shows that only last one season, and has been involved in shows such as Terriers and Chicago Code, which managed to have very satisfactory endings that resolved some ideas, yet left the door open for future development. Thus, Last Resort can go in one of two directions in its final two episodes, »

Last Resort Review: The Nature of Mutiny

17 January 2013 10:28 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

All Hell broke loose during the penultimate episode of Last Resort, as almost everyone ended up threatened with "The Pointy End of the Spear."

Overall, this was a thrilling episode with a heart-pounding set up for next week's finale... but I have one request: Can we ditch Kylie's love life? It's boring and unnecessary. I like Kylie so much more in the scenes where she's not with her boyfriend.

Although I suppose I shouldn't complain too vehemently.  She did utter one of the best Last Resort quotes of the night after bedding said boyfriend:

I've been having sex in a random hotel room all night because the thought of sharing a Wiki page with John Wilkes Booth, that really does it for me. | permalink
