Storyline

When, prehistoric monsters attack the earth, Commander Adams is asked to head up a paramilitary scientific team, which he agrees on the condition that he is provided with the general's new high-tech space craft. Glen, the creator of the craft, insists on being part of the team, as does a bumbling fool named Marconi. Biologist Lieutenant Ann Johnson comes on as a surprise to these two chauvinists, and finally, Lieutenant Harris, who has been appointed the host of Ultraman, joins the team upon his arrivial. This featurized film is adapted from four interconnected episodes of a TV series, which covers the formation of the team and three additional monster attacks, culminating with a giant, regenerating crocodilian taken in by a little boy named Timmy, whose house is the only indication of the film's Japanese setting. Ultraman meets Starblazer-ish Needs better DVD release
29 September 2004 | by (Portland Oregon) – See all my reviews

The DVD just states the name as Ultraman II, but I have read the series goes by the names Ultraman Jonias, and Ultraman Joe. The DVD cover is really really horrible. A bad piece of artwork.

The Cartoon though is cool. Very Starblazers. Down to an Alien IQ-9 Clone. Though the cartoon says that the Alien is a robot. So it goes along much like Starblazers would, then Bam! Ultraman and Giant Monsters. Very Cool.

This DVD is easy to find in online auctions and is way cheap. It only has the first 4 episodes in English. This series needs a full on DVD release from a major US Anime house.

Hanna Barbera had a Pilot Movie for a domestic Ultraman cartoon series that did not happen. That and this are completely different.
