The Leone Style (2004)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Another good featurette taking a look at director Sergio Leone and his film THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY. Film critic Richard Schickel is joined by stars Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallach as they discuss the making of the movie and what made Leone so special. Schickel takes a look at the film in a more historical nature as he discusses some of the myths about the film including it being overly violent and there's also a great showcase in regards to how long it is and why Leone liked to drag things out. Several scenes are shown with a timer just to give the viewer an idea of why and how the film could have been a lot shorter. Both Eastwood and Wallach tell some terrific stories about the making of the film including a rather hilarious one dealing with the bridge being blown up and Eastwood's fear of something horribly wrong happening. Fans of the film and its director will certainly want to check this out since there are so many good stories being told about the production and getting to hear first hand accounts from two of the stars is just wonderful.
