Happy Anniversary 'Star Trek'!

On this day in 1979, Paramount Pictures released Star Trek: The Motion Picture in theaters, thus beginning three decades of 'Star Trek' on the silver screen, and culminating in this year's reboot of the franchise with director Jj Abrams' Star Trek. One might also argue that the relative financial success of Star Trek: The Motion Picture also paved the way for the franchise's return to television with Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture didn't begin as a feature film, however. The erstwhile series' extraordinary popularity in syndication prompted Paramount Pictures and Trek creator Gene Roddenberry to begin developing a new 'Star Trek Phase II' series in May 1975—part of the cornerstone of a new television network Paramount had planned. The King of Fighters Trailer Starring Ray Park and Maggie Q

Hey look, it's another low budget video game adaptation that's got direct-to-dvd written all over it! This promo trailer, however, doesn't convey much of a plot at all. Gordon Chan (Fist of Legend, The Medallion) is directing the movie, and it »

Jake Gyllenhaal puts on his sexy face in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Photo: Walt Disney Pictures I'm not much of a gamer, and that may in fact be an understatement considering in the last few years the only games I have played and finished are "Gears of War," "Burnout," "Uncharted," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and just a couple of days ago "Uncharted 2." I don't know where that places me in the gamer revolution, but considering that's about 6 years of gaming outside of playing a little "Tiger Woods," "NBA Street" and "Hot Shots Golf" I would say I am on the outside looking in. However, I'd like to think I know enough to at least open up a discussion concerning the growing trend of adapting video games into feature films, primarily based on the recently released trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a film »
