Storyline

COALITION is a realistic depiction of how New York's lucrative construction business is systematically shaken down by minority non-union labor. Our story is about one man's quest to go up against the cities largest and most dangerous coalition group, the SBM, "Survival of the Black Man" coalition. This is an extremely hard-hitting, gritty, modern day "On the Waterfront." A true-to-life voyeuristic view of how both sides of the law is pitted against each other. The story was written by Joseph Ariola, a long time member of the Operating Engineers Union in N.Y.C. Joe hired retired Detective Robert Cea to work on the movie script with him. The story is based on the true inner workings of the police trying to infiltrate the corrupt coalition workers; the mob middle men setting up these coalition deals; the unions trying to organize against impending layoffs due to the cheap unskilled non-union labor; and, one man stuck in the middle trying to battle the mob, killer coalition bosses from ... OK film

Coalition is about the conflict between the black mob and the Italian mob. They work together to rape the public of their hard earned money until the black mob gets a little too uppity and starts killing the Italian mob's black friends who stand up to them. Moderate to high violence with a lot of beatings, but not too much actual blood footage which makes it a violent movie done in good taste. Cliché characters abound, but it's good to see a black people cast as real heroes who are unwilling to succumb to the gangster mentality. The only thing I have against the movie is that the Italian mob comes to the rescue and hits the black mob. In my book, all mafia mobs of any kind should get summary executions. But we live in America, where known guilt must first be proved before the guilty get off. An A class movie with some acting/dialog issues and a few directing problems.
