Walter Cronkite makes note that his daughter Kathy played Patty Hearst in Network. This is not exactly correct, Kathy Cronkite actually played Mary Anne Gifford, a character very much like Hearst. See more »

Quotes

Host: [about President Eisenhower] Eisenhower made political enemies of course but he never lost the aura of the war hero. In doing his memoirs for television with me, he revealed a great deal more detailed knowledge of the arcane decisions of his administration than the press generally gave him credit for.

Amazing Series! I'm watching it right now and he's in to the 1960's...its amazing all the things this Reporter saw and did, the people he met and the events he covered. Walter Cronkite reminds us that a reporter is there to cover the 'first draft' of History...and thru both his memories and reports he gives a perspective on the 20th century. A great series to watch for both historical perspective and hints at 'behind the scenes' working of the changing news culture (Print, Radio, TV) of the 20th century.

Of special notice watch his World War II memories, its amazing to watch the war unfold in the eyes of a young reporter...here is the 20th century remembered by a man that witnessed great events. Learn from it.
