Problematic but likable and underrated Australian drama series
13 January 2005 | by (Sydney, Australia) – See all my reviews

The Cooks, based on Network TEN's low rating 2003 tele-movie/pilot "Temptation" was one of the lowest rating drama premieres and was quickly dumped in a late-night time-slot to waste away (TEN couldn't axe The Cooks as it would jeopardise their Australian content quota).

Starring up and coming actor Toby Schmitz and "SeaChange" star Kate Atkinson, the action took place in two competing restaurants in Sydney's inner west.

There were numerous problems with the series, namely a lack of chemistry between the cast and sketchy writing and plotting, but there were moments of freshness and some nice ideas.
