and the winners were Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan for Best actress and Best actor respectively, for their roles in the mega hit movie Devdas (India's most comparable answer to Hollywood's Titanic). Aishwarya Rai's role in the movie solidified her status as a bona fide Bollywood power player and further boosted SRK's status as a renowned Bolywood icon. Their film went on to win the most awards that evening, including the coveted Best Film award. Other highlights of the evening included Bollywood legend Rekha being presented with a lifetime achievement award, Esha Deol winning best debut actress and Vivek Oberoi winning best supporting actor for his turn in the film Company.
