Many of the cast are not actors, but real criminals. Vasilije Bojicic from Bosnia, playing Vanja was in 2006 sentenced to eight years in prison followed by a deportation back to Bosnia for smuggling heroin across Denmark. He leaves three kids behind.
There are no popular artists on the soundtrack, because Nicolas Winding Refn wanted "Real underground music" to fit the feel of the movie. So he made "Pusher II Soundtrack Hunt" (in collaboration with GAFFA and Mymusic.dk), a music contest where unsigned bands and solo artists could send in a sample, which Refn then could choose from. A total of 622 samples were sent in. Peter Peter (who also scored Pusher (1996)) also wrote music for the film, which is preformed by 'The Bleeder Group'. The soundtrack was released 13 December 2004 and was produced by Universal Music.
