According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios is narrowing down a list of names for who will take the helm of Captain Marvel. The latest candidates are Niki Caro, Lesli Linka Glatter and Lorene Scafaria, and they're said to be the top choices after being picked from a shortlist which was previously revealed to include the likes of Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Jennifer Yuh (Kung Fu Panda 2). Caro helmed the Oscar nominated Whale Rider along with North Country starring Charlize Theron and The Zookeeper's Wife with Jessica Chastain. Glatter is best known for her television work as one of Homeland's main directors (she's been nominated for an Emmy this year) as well as shows like Ray Donovan and True Blood. Two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Avengers, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation) has signed on to voice the lead character (Swifty) in the epic 3D, CGI animated family film Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad from Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi's Ambi Group.
Renner will lead an ensemble voice cast for Arctic Justice that includes Alec Baldwin (The Departed, Blue Jasmine, Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation), Heidi Klum (The Devil Wears Prada, Project Runway), John Cleese (A Fish Called Wanda, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian), James Franco (The Interview, 127 Hours, Spider-Man), Anjelica Huston (The Royal Tenenbaums, The Addams Family), and Omar Sy (Jurassic World, Inferno).
