At the #Horror première by Anne-Katrin Titze

Lydia Hearst on Tara Subkoff at #Horror premiere: "She has such an incredibly beautiful vision." Photo: Anne-Katrin Titze

At the Museum of Modern Art première of Tara Subkoff's sharp-witted #Horror, Timothy Hutton spoke to me about the art (curated by Urs Fischer) and parenting, and Lydia Hearst made a Drew Barrymore out of Wes Craven's Scream comparison, as Chloë Sevigny, Balthazar Getty, Taryn Manning, Stella Schnabel, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Natasha Lyonne, Sadie Seelert, Haley Murphy, Bridget McGarry, Blue Lindeberg, Mina Sundwall and Emma Adler walked the red carpet.

Wes Anderson favorite Waris Ahluwalia (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou) confided to me that Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects and House Of 1000 Corpses are the two horror films he loves and at the Players Club after party confirmed he now has three.

Rob Zombie gave us his Top 10 horror movies - and there's one surprising omission

30 October 2015 3:48 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Of the 100-plus Top 10 lists we received for our Ultimate Horror Movie Poll, there were a few omissions that genuinely surprised me. One of those was a no-show for "Halloween" on the list of musician-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie -- i.e. the man who remade the John Carpenter classic for a new generation back in 2007.  Which isn't to say that Zombie doesn't like the film, obviously ("Halloween" only barely made the cut on my own list despite being my favorite horror movie of all time), only that it was crowded out by a slew of black-and-white classics, one cult-favorite musical and a number of undeniable modern masterpieces including Tobe Hooper's "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," which was a major influence on Zombie's first two features ("House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects"). Check out Zombie's full list below, then peruse the rest of the Top 10s over at the main poll page. »

Post-Mortem: Breaking down our Ultimate Horror Movie Poll

23 October 2015 9:50 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

HitFix's Ultimate Horror Movie Poll, which highlights the 100 greatest horror films of all time as voted on by over 100 genre filmmakers and experts, not only showcased the enduring power of No. 1 finisher "The Exorcist," it also cemented the status of the '70s and '80s as a Golden Age of horror (films released during those decades took up nearly half of available slots). The '70s and '80s, incidentally, saw the artistic rise and mainstream breakthroughs of both Wes Craven and David Cronenberg, horror icons who placed more films in the Top 100 than any other director (four titles each). Meanwhile, the list revealed one undeniably bleak statistic: only one movie in the Top 100 was directed by a woman.  For me, the most gratifying moment of our Ultimate Horror Poll came when compiling the data was finally over, and I could take a step back and fully appreciate, as a reader, »

Rob Zombie and Mila Kunis' new series proves it is truly a Golden Age for horror fans on TV

22 September 2015 12:26 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Rob Zombie is a filmmaker I'm about half onboard with. While I remember thinking "The Devil's Rejects" was very good, his "Halloween" remake was pretty abysmal (though in fairness, the studio apparently mucked around with that one quite a bit). His upcoming carnival-themed horror film "31" will hopefully be more of the former, and now he's got another project in the pipeline: the musician and writer/director is set to helm a half-hour horror-comedy series for Starz entitled "Trapped." The series, which was created by Joey Slamon ("Arrested Develpment") and executive-produced by Mila Kunis, will take place over a single night as a wealthy family find themselves stalked by a murderous cult.  Since it's on Starz -- the home of Sam Raimi's ultra-gory "Evil Dead" continuation -- Zombie won't have network constraints bogging him down, meaning you can probably expect lots of bloody mayhem, copious amounts of cursing and gratuitous nudity. »

Rob Zombie Reveals '31' Villain Doom-Head

16 September 2015 4:02 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

There is still much we don't know about Rob Zombie's next directorial effort 31. But today, we are getting a first look at one of the main villains in this thriller. And the director thinks he'll be solidified an icon once genre fans get a look at what he can and will do to torment unsuspecting members of the human race. We're not sure to what extent this gruesome looking guy goes in dismembering his victims. But he's certainly a handsome devil.

Meet Doom-Head, played in 31 by actor Richard Brake, who showed up in the hit movies Spy and Kingsman: The Secret Service this past year. The story of 31 sounds like someone put Clownhouse, Saw and a whole bunch of severed limbs in a blender, coming up with a frothy puree of viscera that is sure to haunt your nightmares. Rob Zombie Selected to Bring Groucho Marx's Story to the Screen

18 June 2015 3:11 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

So far, Rob Zombie directorial career has resulted in either terrible movies (House of 1,000 Corpses), movies that start strong than devolve into crap (2007's Halloween) or something of a mixed bag (The Devil's Rejects, The Lords of Salem). Or he makes The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, a nasty little bugger of a film where you'll want to stand in the shower for nine days after watching. How, then, this qualifies him to bring Groucho Marx's life story to the screen is anyone's guess, but stranger things have happened in Hollywood. As a matter of fact, looking into the details, Zombie's involvement begins makes a little more sense. amz asin="1593936524" size="small"The biopic, based on Steve Stolair's memoir "Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho's House", will not span the comedic actor's whole career but rather his bizarre final ones as seen from his personal secretary/archivist and young fan's perspective. »
