There are several scenes where the Hutu army punishes Tutsi "cockroaches" with guns and machetes. Hutu's chop Tutsi's with Machetes, and people are beat up in the streets. The graphic nature of most of these punishments is more suitable for mature audiences. This is constant and throughout the entire movie.Many butchered corpses are shown.Murder, Genocide, and strong violence are always mentioned.There is a scene that implies that the Hutu's are murdering U.N Peacekeepers.There is a sad reference of Hutu's murdering Tutsi children.Gunfire is also present at various parts of the film.There are references of suicide.One particularly disturbing scene where several Hutu's can be seen murdering screaming Tutsi's with machetes.

Pretty much the whole entire movie is very intense, with many disturbing/frightening images throughout.There is a scene where Paul Rusesabagina and Gregoire come into direct contact with human carcasses. The nature of this scene may be too dramatic for some viewers, especially those who are affected by the events which this movie portrays.A man is almost forced to shoot his family and neighbors to death as punishment for lying.The hutu militia attempts to murder Tutsi men, woman and children that are trying to escape the country in a couple of trucks with the help of the U.N. peacekeepers. It's one of the most frightening scenes in the movie.
