Produced as a TV-Movie of the week, Swiss Television decided to release STERNENBERG theatrically through BVI in Swiss theatres first. It has become the most sucessful Swiss Film of 2004. However, the TV rights fell back to Swiss Television in October. The broadcast of 3 October 2004 was much anticipated by everybody involved. When the final numbers came in Monday morning it was clear it had become the most successful TV-Movie/Feature Film of recent memory. Drawing more than 816,000 viewers (previous record holder was Jurassic Park in November 1996 with 797'000 viewers)
