Inside Meghan Markle's Road to American Royalty

Inside Meghan Markle's Road to American Royalty
Meghan Markle was destined to be a royal!

The 36-year-old actress and Prince Harry announced their engagement this week, and she will soon be by his side to work together on causes dear to their hearts.

Markle may be known for her role as Rachel Zane on Suits, but the brunette beauty has also been giving back to the community and fighting for women's rights long before her ties to Prince Harry and her expected soon-to-be royal duties.

Her humanitarian and philanthropic work began prior to her becoming an actress. It all began with her mother, Doria Ragland, who has a master's degree in social work and works as a psychotherapist. In an interview with Glamourearlier this year, Markle listed her mom as one of the women who changed her life.

"My mom's a yoga instructor, but she does social work, as well, and she works specifically with the geriatric community," she stated. "For me

Prince Harry Defends Girlfriend, ‘Suits’ Actress Meghan Markle, From ‘Wave of Abuse and Harassment’

Prince Harry Defends Girlfriend, ‘Suits’ Actress Meghan Markle, From ‘Wave of Abuse and Harassment’
Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson, has issued an appeal to the press and social-media commentators to end “the wave of abuse and harassment” that has been directed in the past two weeks at his new girlfriend, Hollywood actress Meghan Markle, her friends and family.

Markle, best known for her role as Rachel Zane in U.S. legal drama “Suits,” and Harry, the younger son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, have been dating since June, according to Us Weekly, although news of the relationship only began to circulate widely in the past 10 days.

According to a statement issued Tuesday by his communications secretary, Prince Harry, who is fifth in line to the British throne, is concerned about the racist nature of much of the coverage. Markle is biracial, with a Caucasian father and African-American mother.

The statement asserts that media interest in the affair had crossed a line in the past week. “His

Album review: Eli Young Band's "10,000 Towns" plays it safe

Album review: Eli Young Band's
Eli Young Band is capable of great things as it showed with 2012’s “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” which featured one of the stronger choruses to come out of Nashville in years, as well as with Acm’s 2012 song of the year winner, “Crazy Girl.” The question is if the quartet, which releases “10,000 Towns, its third major label album, today, is content to keep hitting singles and doubles or if it will consistently swing for the fences and find material that matches lead singer Mike Eli’s vocal talents and the band’s overall abilities. (Eli is joined by guitarist James Young, bassist Jon Jones and drummer Chris Thompson). The answer is mixed. To its credit, Eli Young Band, though very capable of hooting and hollering with the best of them, hasn’t succumbed to the bro-country sound that is dominating Nashville right now. It has tried to collect

"I love my family," he tells Zap2it. "I have a great wife. It took me a while to figure that out and commit, but now I'm really happy I did. She's a human being, and we're committed to each other. It's a nice thing. The kids are just amazing. It's a different level."

As to whether

Oitnb’s Taryn Manning on Being Typecast As a Crackhead, Playing a Meth Addict, and Those God-Awful Teeth

Oitnb’s Taryn Manning on Being Typecast As a Crackhead, Playing a Meth Addict, and Those God-Awful Teeth
Taryn Manning is no stranger to broken-down characters. And if you've seen Orange Is the New Black (and if you haven't, hurry up!), you know exactly who she plays. Manning fully embodies Tiffany Doggett (known as "Pennsatucky" by her prisonmates), a Christ-fearing former meth head who preaches from the prison's makeshift pulpit and performs God's miracles in the cafeteria. Manning's own miracle is being able to convincingly pull off Pennsatucky's teeth — truly a Montana Meth Project dream. We talked to Manning about Doggett's perfect smile, her own attempt to sneak in some (flattering) makeup, and what it's like to be typecast. This isn’t the first time you’ve played a character who has looked ... downtrodden. There’s 8 Mile, Hustle and Flow, Crazy/Beautiful, and A Lot Like Love, in which you play Ashton Kutcher’s sister — who wears a midriff-baring wedding dress. Basically, you’ve played some messed-up characters.

Marry, Hump, or Dump! Romantic Comedy Heartthrobs

From left to right: Justin Timberlake, Seth Rogen and Ashton Kutcher

This week's players are all known for their appearances in romantic comedies. Which of them would you...

Ashton Kutcher

Increasingly branching off from his Punk'd days, Kutcher has been in a lot of romcoms lately, including Valentine's Day and A Lot Like Love. He recently starred in No Strings Attached, and also sponsored a rather bizarre anti-child slavery campaign.

Justin Timberlake

The former N'Syncer has been making a name for himself in the acting world, and stars in the soon to be released Friends with Benefits, that movie that is totally different from that other movie. He also recently co-starred in Bad Teacher and seems to show up on SNL incredibly frequently.

Seth Rogen

You might not peg Seth for a romantic lead, but he's starred in some pretty unconventional romantic comedies: Knocked Up and Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Nikki Finke calls Ashton Kutcher a flop-machine

By Scott Mendelson

hollywoodnews.com”: “…any movie starring Ashton Kutcher is probably a bomb…” – Nikki Finke discussing Paramount’s unwillingness to personally send her a press briefing on No Strings Attached

An absolute falsehood. She bases her assertion on a single film, Killers, which opened with $15 million and grossed $93 million worldwide (which would have been fine had the film not cost $70 million). Valentine’s Day (an ensemble film where he had the lead role) opened to $56 million just last year. What Happened In Vegas opened to $20 million and ended up with $219 million worldwide (his biggest grosser ever) just under three years ago. Sure, he occasionally out-and-out whiffs (A Thing Like Love, My Boss’s Daughter), but Kutcher is a relatively consistent opener.

Of his fifteen wide-openers as a lead (including No Strings Attached, which should do about $20 million following a $7.3 million Friday), his lowest is My Boss’s Daughter with $4.2 million,

Weekend Box Office Outlook

# 1 No Strings Attached

Riding the wave of a Golden Globe win and sure to be an Oscar Nomination, arrives Natalie Portman’s and Ashton Kutcher’s No Strings Attached which should land itself at the #1 spot this weekend. Natalie Portman is untested when it comes to romantic comedies, as most of the box pffice weight will rely heavily on Asthon Kutcher whose forays into romantic comedies have seen varied success with first weekend openings in the range of as high as $22.5M for Guess Who to as low as $ 7.5M for A Lot Like Love. Add in an uneven marketing campaign whose trailers consistently changed from week to week and No String’s Attached should find itself with a modest yet # 1 opening.

Our Prediction: $16-17M Opening Weekend Box Office.

#2 The Green Hornet

With a solid opening weekend, good audience feedback via Cinemascore, and a lack of any real direct
