James Wan, Roy Lee Tackling The Entity Remake

7 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Though his spectacular work behind the camera on Furious 7 is sure to send countless blockbuster offers across his desk, James Wan is still keeping true to his bloodcurdling origins. The Insidious helmer will produce a remake of 1980s horror pic The Entity with the same creative team behind his 2013 horror hit The Conjuring.

Chad and Carey Hayes, who scripted The Conjuring and are also set to reteam with Wan in the same capacity when he directs next year’s The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, will write the screenplay, working from novelist Frank De Felitta’s original script. Roy Lee, a major player in the horror world, is also attached as a producer.

The original Entity starred Barbara Hershey as Carla Moran, a single mother who was reportedly assaulted, both physically and sexually, by a supernatural presence. Ron Silver also starred as a doctor who believed Moran was abusing »

‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Is Getting A Movie

7 April 2015 9:28 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Five Nights At Freddy’S has been one of the biggest successes of independent gaming. The horror game sees players take on the role of a security guard at a children’s themed restaurant. While there they must check security footage and protect themselves from evil animatronics that wish to turn the player into one of their own kind. With a simple set-up, not much movement, increasing sense of dread, and insane jump scares, the game has provided players with endless hours of enjoyment as they force friends to play and record their reactions.

Now, as with all great successes, the concept is heading to Hollywood under the watchful eye of Warner Bros. Producing the effort will be Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg. Lee has produced hit animated films such as How To Train Your Dragon 2 and The Lego Movie, while his involvement with horror has spanned »

New Poltergeist Trailer Asks What Are You Afraid Of?

2 April 2015 12:45 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

“I want you all to clear your minds. They already know what scares you.” It was effective when Tangina (Zelda Rubenstein) said it in 1982. It rattles the nerves again to hear it in the brand new trailer for the supernatural thriller, Poltergeist.

This summer, legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (“Spiderman,” “Evil Dead”, “The Grudge”) and director Gil Kenan (“Monster House”) contemporize the classic tale about a suburban family’s fight to save their youngest daughter, when she is captured by the evil forces haunting their home.

Also, be sure to check out Poltergeist‘s terrifying “Fear Factory”, where fans who post about their own fears using the hashtag #WhatAreYouAfraidOf will be sent personalized content bringing those fears to life. Tell us #WhatAreYouAfraidOf, and see all the customized content on the official Poltergeist Twitter account @Poltergeist today.

Latest Trailer For Gil Kenan’s Poltergeist Retelling Is A Frightful Delight

2 April 2015 10:59 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

20th Century Fox and MGM have unveiled the second full-length trailer for the studios forthcoming horror retelling of Tobe Hooper’s 1982 chiller, Poltergeist.

This time around, Monster House‘s Gil Kenan is in the director’s chair, and it’s understood that this modern incarnation will only use the original as a touching point, rather than simply cutting and pasting all of those effective haunted house tropes from thirty years ago. Mind you, Kenan’s reboot of-sorts will still be largely situated within the confinements of one old, haunted house.

Hoping to start a new chapter in their lives, it’s Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt young couple who move into said house, which effectively tips the first malevolent domino over and instigates a whole host of spine-chilling events. It’s not long before their daughter suddenly goes missing, abducted into the realm of all-things-evil, leaving the pair with no »

Poltergeist Delivers An Unsettling New Trailer

2 April 2015 8:13 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

The new trailer for director Gil Kenan's (Monster House) poltergeist remake definitely brings the iconography of the classic horror movie to the plat ("They're Here!" and the eerie glow from the t.v. to name but two), but he also seems to be putting his own stamp on the material, delivering an unsettling modern horror with a distinct old school feel. Monster House may have been a kids movie, but Kenan's understanding of horror tropes and a genuinely creepy atmosphere delivered a pretty intense and scary experience. He doesn't seem to have lost his touch here, and while this remake probably won't reach the heights of the original Poltergeist, it should at least be worthy of the name. Released: 22nd May Synopsis: Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (“Spiderman,” “Evil Dead”, “The Grudge”) and director Gil Kenan (“Monster House”) contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. »

New Poltergeist Trailer and Poster Ramp Up the Horror

2 April 2015 6:48 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

20th Century Fox and MGM have released a new Poltergeist trailer and poster for director Gil Kenan’s (Monster House) contemporary remake of the classic horror film. Produced by Sam Raimi, the redo stars Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt as parents trying to fend off a spiritual invasion and save their eight-year-old daughter (Kennedi Clements) from the evil forces trying to take her. This new trailer is certainly unsettling, and while it's unlikely the remake will match the effect of the original film, it at least looks like Kenan is making solid use of today's visual effects technology without using it as a crutch. Overall, though, the film doesn't look like it deviates from the plot of the original too heavily, and I'm most curious to see what significant changes (if any) are made in the update. First TV Spot For Poltergeist Remake Hints At New Brand Of Terror

19 March 2015 12:50 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

By switching up its summer release slate, 20th Century Fox are now faced with upping its marketing techniques for Poltergeist. Originally positioned for a late July opening, the spooky remake was moved up by two months and is now set to open nationwide at the end of May. That’s only eight weeks to build anticipation, muster excitement and to generally make sure there are sufficient bums on seats when the movie debuts.

February marked the arrival of the film’s first teaser trailers, both of which sought to distance this rebooted modern day version from Tobe Hooper’s 1982 original. Once again, the introduction of a new type of evil unseen ghostie is front and center in this first TV spot, which you can check out for yourself above. While the domestic and international previews flesh out the backstory and pile on more scares, this creepy morsel is still well worth a watch. »

10 Films You Didn’t Realise Buffyverse Actors Were In

It has now been 11 years since the Buffyverse came to an end (as far as its television shows were concerned, at least). Buffy The Vampire Slayer saw its final episode aired in 2003, while Angel saw its last episode air one year later – and fans of the shows still miss them both to this day.

One of the key reasons behind the popularity of the two shows was undoubtedly the characters. A talented group of regular cast members and supporting actors brought to life some of the weirdest, wackiest, funniest and most interesting characters anybody could ever wish for in a television series and many of them have gone on to obtain further success in Hollywood (and some of them had actually already made their mark in the world of film).

Michael Douglas on the Hunt in First Trailer for 'Beyond the Reach'

6 February 2015 8:39 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

This summer we'll see Michael Douglas in Marvel mode as he has a co-starring role in Ant-Man alongside Paul Rudd. But before then, Douglas is getting a little dark with a thriller called Beyond the Reach. In what is essentially a more campy adaptation of The Most Dangerous Game, the film follows an upscale loan shark who is taking in the Mojave Desert with a little hunt. But when his young guide (Jeremy Irvine) is surprising by his human-hunting game, he ends up being the next target, with nowhere to run but deeper into the scorching, dry wasteland. This looks like an awesome B-movie right on par with the first Taken. Here's the first trailer for Jean-Baptiste Léonetti's Beyond the Reach, originally from Yahoo: Beyond the Reach is directed by French filmmaker Jean-Baptiste Léonetti and written by Stephen Susco (The Grudge), based on the book Deathwatch by Robb White. »

Scarier International Trailer Lands For Poltergeist Remake

Trailers. They’re like buses. You wait for ages for one and then suddenly two arrive at once. What’s really going on with the ghosts? And will that track that one of the ghosts whips up on the kiddy keyboard be available on iTunes?

All that, however, was the domestic trailer, which was cultivated for U.S. audiences. Now, we’ve been granted a look (via Digital Spy) at the international version which offers further insight into the family’s unfortunate circumstance.

Based loosely on Tobe Hooper’s 1982 chiller, this rebooted modern-day version is the product of director Gil Kenan and producer Sam Raimi. The story revolves around Rosemary Dewitt and Sam Rockwell, as a happily-married couple who move »

'Poltergeist' International Trailer Has All-New Footage

Earlier this morning, MGM and Fox released the first trailer for their scary new remake of Poltergeist. And it was met with a warm reception, even by longtime fans of the original who refuse to believe that this reboot is neccessary. It has more than enough new footage to make it a worthwhile watch, and even sheds new light on some of the family dynamic inside the Bowen house.

Legendary filmmaker and producer Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man, Evil Dead, The Grudge) and director Gil Kenan (Monster House) are behind this attempt to recapture lightening in a bottle, taking over for producer Steven Spielberg and director Tobe Hooper.
