To start with the positive the Last Round had some great camera work. The shots with the camera panning around the characters in the opening was beautiful. The parts were the camera would start at a fixed object and then move right in on the actors is great. Something about camera pans just does it for me. Next is the actors. The old guy, Jack Favor, and Dave Murphy are the only ones who really pulled their characters off. The old guy had a charm about him and didn't feel like he was playing someone. Jack Favor(Sawyer) was great as almost the leader of the group. This character is what helped move the story along and make it interesting. The character was almost frightening towards the end when the situation wasn't going his way. And Dave Murphy just cracked me up as the beer chugging smart ass. This character could have been way over the top but was portrayed convincingly. Now for the negative. The music really bothered me. Through out the movie it wasn't to bad but the parts with that freaking horn bugged the crap out of me. It almost puts me to sleep just thinking of it now. Next were the other characters. Especially the dude in the suit. This guy needs some serious acting lessons. He is supposed to be this dick but he just comes off as an actor trying really hard to play a dick. The young kid also doesn't do it for me. Shame on the director for letting them be in the movie. They almost ruined it. The Persy character was kind of on the fence at times. Sometimes he did it for me other times he didn't. Overall a very worthy effort for a low budget short.
