Shaktimaan soon became so popular that children began to skip their classes on Saturdays to watch the episodes. Taking this seriously the producers shifted the time slot to Sundays.
In 2019, Mukesh Khanna revealed the show had to be ended because the high broadcasting charges were bringing him losses, and not due to the complaints of children imitating the stunts.
In one episode, Gangadhar tells kids that he's a talented actor and asks them if they want to see him enact Bheeshma Pitamaha. This is a reference to Mukesh Khanna's role of Bheeshma in the Mahabharat (1988) series.
Due to the popularity of this series among kids and up to teenagers, the Raj comic (Indian comics company) took the right and started publishing comic book based on Shaktimaan which was illustrated by Dheeraj Verma (currently work in IDW)
When some difficult shots couldn't be created, clips from old movies such as Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) were used.
