The idea for the show came about when stage magician Jonathan Krackehl sat in on a taping of Last Call with Carson Daly (2002). He watched a rock group called "Sevendust" perform and decided that in addition to his magic, the show would feature musicians.
The first concert taping for Real Magic TV took place on 11 October 2002 in Rochester New York.
The first guest was singer/songwriter Howie Day.
The show allows fans to submit questions for their favorite bands. The questions are then asked in the interviews and become part of the show.
