Two sisters, plus a dead mother, a remarried father, and a hostile step-mother. The sisters, each in her way, have perfected the art of losing. The elder, Rose, is an attorney, responsible, lonely, with a closet full of shoes. The younger is Maggie, beautiful, selfish, and irresponsible. Her drunken behavior gets her tossed by her step-mother from her dad's house; worse behavior gets her tossed from Rose's apartment. Then, while searching in her father's desk for money to filch, Maggie finds an address; the past and the future open up to her and, with any luck, may open to her sister as well. Rose and Maggie Feller are sisters who couldn't be more different. They both have their problems however. Maggie is a party girl at heart who's never met a man she couldn't sweet-talk into buying her a drink. She has serious self-esteem problems however. Rose is a successful lawyer who is having an affair with one of the firm's partners but quits her job after she catches the man in bed with Maggie. Rose starts work as a dog-walker and eventually becomes engaged to Simon Stein, someone she worked with at the law firm. Maggie meanwhile learns of a long lost grandmother, Ella Hirsch, who lives in Florida and moves there. She learns that Ella is anything but an easy mark and that she will have to earn her own way. The movie takes place in Philadelphia in which two sisters Maggie the younger one who is constantly getting herself in trouble and too busy being a party girl to keep a job. Even though she is pretty and vivacious, she still cant keep a boyfriend for more than one night, and then we have the complete opposite older sister name Rose. Rose is a responsible, successful lawyer and has a steady boyfriend. Even though with all of her success she still feels insecure and is a compulsive shoe buyer to satisfy her anxiety. Eventually Maggie, the youngest sister gets kicked out of her fathers house by her stepmother because of her "bad ways" and she has nowhere to go but her sisters Rose apartment. But that does not last for long, when Rose catches her boyfriend Jim in the act with Maggie. Once again Maggie is kicked out and nowhere to go. Maggie finds old letters and postcards from her grandmother, Ella, she thought was not alive. Maggie ends up in Florida to "visit" her grandmother and mooch some money, and belongings off of her. Eventually Ella realizes this, making Maggie get a job to earn her own money as an aid at a retirement home. Later on Rose begins to feel terrible and realizes that if she wants to marry the new guy in her life she needs to make up with her only sister. Written by brunettchik90@aol.com
