James Ellroy Will Write Film Noir Remake 'Laura'

Celebrated crime author James Ellroy, whose books have been adapted into films such as L.A. Confidential and The Black Dahlia, has signed on to write the screenplay for a remake of the 1944 film noir thriller Laura.

Otto Preminger directed Laura, which centered on a detective who falls for the woman whose murder he is investigating. Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Clifton Webb and Vincent Price starred in the thriller, which was nominated for five Oscars, including Clifton Webb for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Otto Preminger for best director, with Joseph Lashelle winning the Oscar for Best Cinematography.

Stuart Till is serving as executive producer for Fox 2000, but the project doesn't have a director attached at this time.

Aside from his novels, James Ellroy has also written the screenplays for Street Kings and Rampart.

“What is an artist?” asks Ales Kot. “If anything done sufficiently well is art, then I certainly come from a family of artists. My mother was a social worker and became an interior designer; her mother worked at the post office most of her life and her father worked as a steel worker, an army specialist, and a truck driver. My father worked as a miner, then sold steel and then built up a soccer club; his father worked on a high position in a steel factory and taught physics and mathematics while his mother worked in a store selling food most of her life. Grand Entertainment Inks Deal with Pilgrim Studios for Season 9 of Ghost Hunters on DVD

Fans of SyFy's super-popular program "Ghost Hunters" will be glad to hear that Season 9 of the show will be hitting DVD courtesy of Grand Entertainment Group distribution company. "Ghost Hunters: Season 9" will haunt the shelves in the second quarter of 2014.

Grand Entertainment Group, an independent multi-platform content and distribution company, has obtained exclusive DVD rights from Pilgrim Studios to Season 9 of their hit Syfy original series "Ghost Hunters." Under the deal brokered by Geg President David Rand, Michael Purleski, Vice President of Legal Affairs for Pilgrim Studios and Executive Producer Alan David.
