Brian DePalma directs the stylish adaptation of the dark James Ellroy crime thriller about two L.A. cops in the fifties pursuing the real life (and to this day unsolved) Black Dahlia murder case. Aaron Eckhart is the veteran detective with a gift for public relations and an ambiguous relationship with his gorgeous girlfriend (Scarlett Johansson) and Josh Hartnett is the uniform officer promoted into partnership with the gladhanding Echhart. Hilary Swank co-stars as a slumming socialite who likes to dress up as the murder victim (played by Mia Kirshner in flashbacks).
