This 1976 Dick Cavett TV Special was a great tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood! Included in the line up are the following stars: - Gene Kelly, John Wayne, Mickey Rooney, and last but by no means least, Mae West the legendary Diamond Lil, who gives an interview and sings two of her classic numbers Frankie and Johnny, and After You've Gone!
Just after this TV Special was shown, Mae made her ill advised comeback in Sextette! She was in better shape when she made Myra Breckinridge, but she shows her wit and wisdom in the Cavett interview, and her songs are great fun "Ohh" she purrs entering a salon full of young guys "This is the kinda room I like - wall to wall men"!!
How I wish that this were available on a DVD compilation of "The Best of Dick Cavett" I'm sure it would be well received!
