Storyline

AMERICAN INDIAN GRAFFITI: THIS THING, LIFE is an ensemble drama about four Native Americans whose lives intertwine with one another, taking place over one summer. STEPHANIE, a recent high school graduate, has been rejected by the colleges she dreams of attending. To make matters worse, she learns her mother tried to abort her when she was born. With this new knowledge, she struggles to overcome her lifelong feelings of guilt and rejection. RACHEL, Stephanie's best friend, learns that her life plans are not taking the path she desires, and her friendship with Stephanie has become severed. Because of these things, she believes there's nothing to help her overcome the pain and agony she feels from the death of her mother and brother, not realizing that her refuge is in finding forgiveness for the man who caused their death. STEVE, at the age of twenty-three, has become a famous artist. All of his life's dreams have come true, causing him confusion and fear of not having any more goals. ... Written by steven judd

Trivia

Although the budget was listed at $6,000, there was no budget. Steven Judd sold a Jim Thorpe football card on eBay for $700 and he did a medical experiment that paid $1,800. That was the starting budget, anything that came up was paid for as was need. The two most expensive one-time payments were the computer tower ($1,000) and an original score ($2,000). Once the movie was edited, the total cost were added up including computer and score and it totaled around $6,000. See more »

Finally
17 May 2004 | by See all my reviews

Saw this movie at a test screening. Finally, a movie that shows Native Americans in a contemporary setting. there were some sound problems, but overall a wonderful experience. If you liked Smoke Signals, you will like this film. The movie is 4 stories that go back and forth and at some points over lap. The movie opens in a cemetery where two girls, have fallen asleep. The other story is about a friendship between a Mechanic and a little girl. and the 3rd story is about an artist, who has lost his inspiration. I felt the strongest story was one about the mechanic. It could be a movie all by its self. I enjoyed this movie and cant wait to see what they will do next.
