Jeepers Creepers 3 World Premiere Scrapped Due To Threats Of Protesting

30 August 2017 1:45 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Just when you thought Jeepers Creepers 3 had turned a corner and put its storied production woes in the rear-view mirror, Victor Salva’s horror threequel is hit with another setback. And this time, it’s a big one.

The Tcl Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles has scrapped plans to host the world premiere of Jeepers Creepers 3 due to threats of protesting. Initially, the theater chain had earmarked September 13th for a back-to-back screening of the original Jeepers Creepers movie, its long-anticipated threequel, along with a Q&A session with the cast and crew – most notably franchise creator and director, Victor Salva. And therein lies the source of controversy.

To cut a long story short, the filmmaker was accused of sexual misconduct with a minor almost two decades ago, and served 15 months in state prison. During that time, many feared (hoped?) The Creeper would never fly again under Salva’s supervision, »

Jeepers Creepers 3 Premiere Canceled Over Protest Threats

30 August 2017 9:54 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Jeepers Creepers 3 has been a long time coming and the movie is finally ready to wow audiences with its thrills and dubious scares. After years of trying to get the sequel off the ground, director Victor Salva has finished the third installment of his horror franchise and the premiere was scheduled to take place in just a couple of weeks. But the director's past crimes have caused a lot of controversy and the threat of protest has caused the cancelation of the Jeepers Creepers 3 premiere event.

The event was scheduled for September 13 at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles and had sold out in a matter of days. Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers 3 were to be screened back-to-back with cast members from all three entries in the series in attendance for the event. However, following threat of protest, the management at Tcl felt it was best to cancel the »

Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica (Dourif) is wrongly convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new group-therapy tool — a “Good Guy” doll — a string of grisly deaths plague the asylum and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy (Vincent), Chucky’s now-grownup nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

Frightfest 2017: Cult of Chucky Review: Dir. Don Mancini (2017)

24 August 2017 12:30 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Cult of Chucky review: The possessed Good Guy doll, Chucky, is back to terrorise audiences with the seventh film in the horror franchise.

Cult of Chucky review, Kat Hughes at Frightfest 2017.

Cult of Chucky review

It was almost thirty years ago that cinema audiences were first introduced to Charles Lee Ray, better known as Chucky. Since then, the tale of the possessed Good Guy doll has unfolded over three decades and six films; now it’s time for lucky number seven – Cult of Chucky.

Tonally the films have shifted over the years. The first three films were your typical late eighties / early nineties video nasties. They were creepy as Hell and were the cause of many bouts of Pediophobia (that’s fear of dolls). The trio of terror followed youngster Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) as he tried to keep his body, and soul, away from the voodoo practising Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif). Then, »

Cult of Chucky, 2017

Written and directed by Don Mancini

Starring Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Brad DourifAlex Vincent, Elisabeth Rosen, Michael Therriault, Zak Santiago, Grace Lynn Kung

Synopsis:

Chucky returns to terrorize his human victim, Nica. Meanwhile, the killer doll has some scores to settle with his old enemies, with the help of his former wife.

Sorry Jack – Chucky’s back… again.

The serial killer doll Chucky – who has been terrorising people since 1988 – was given a new lease on life following 2013’s fantastic Curse of Chucky. It was a movie that took Chucky back to his darker roots following the campy Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky, and was well-received by fans and critics. Original creator Don Mancini – who wrote and directed Curse of Chucky – is back again with Cult of Chucky, the seventh entry in this long running franchise. But has he found the same success twice?

Cult Of Chucky Opens Up “World Of Infinite Possibilities” For Series’ Future

23 August 2017 11:51 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Even though each and every entry into the Child’s Play film franchise has its supporters, odds are that some of you reading this were quite relieved when director Don Mancini returned the series to its roots with Curse of Chucky. Likewise, all signs point toward him continuing that trend with the much talked about Cult of Chucky.

That being said, it’s hard to argue against Mancini having a very clear vision, thus making him the right hand to guide our favorite Good Guy for the foreseeable future. And by bringing back Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay and keeping series stalwart Jennifer Tilly around, he’s certainly doing a fine job of staying on course.

But what may be most exciting of all is hearing that his brain seems to be packed with a myriad of ideas as to where to take Chucky next. Here’s what Mancini himself »

Tiffany Makes Her Bloody Return In This All-New Pic For Cult Of Chucky

If you haven’t quite had your fix of killer dolls after this morning’s deluge of creepy stills for Annabelle: Creation, we’ve got you covered.

The folks over at Bloody Disgusting have relayed the latest action shot for Cult of Chucky and unsurprisingly, it’s drenched in blood. Not only that, but it also heralds the return of Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) – albeit in doll form. Not seen in the possessed form since 2004, Tilly has since made appearances across Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, and Curse of Chucky, and is effectively a fixture of the Child’s Play franchise.

And at least based on this new still, Tiffany hasn’t lost her appetite for carnage. Sitting comfortably in the back of a blood-drenched vehicle, Jennifer Tilly’s pint-sized doppelgänger is smiling from plastic ear to plastic ear, and we can only imagine what poor soul has fallen pray »

He's Not Gone Yet - Official Trailer for 'Cult of Chucky' Horror Sequel

3 July 2017 9:10 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna play?" He's back for more! An official trailer has debuted for the latest Chucky doll film, titled Cult of Chucky. This is technically the seventh film in the seemingly never-ending Child's Play series, after Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, and Curse of Chucky most recently. This one is also going straight-to-dvd and we're making an exception to post about it, just because it's another Chucky movie so why not. The story follows Fiona Dourif as Nina, who is in an insane asylum where she has been convinced she murdered her entire family, not Chucky. Things are getting better until the doctor brings another "Good Guys" doll in as a therapeutic tool. Also starring Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Michael Therriault, and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky. This looks like more of the same from the others, but what do I know. Here's the first »

Coming Distractions: Dolls are scary again in the Cult Of Chucky trailer

29 June 2017 11:46 AM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

With 2013’s Curse Of Chucky, the Child’s Play film series returned to its roots, delivering a movie more concerned with scaring audiences than with delivering the campy laughs of previous installments Bride Of Chucky and Seed Of Chucky. It was an uneven but pleasurable back to basics move for writer-director Don Mancini, who has written every big-screen iteration of the killer-doll franchise and helmed the last two. And now, the film’s new storyline continues with sequel Cult Of Chucky, a film that definitively answers the question, “Wait, are they still making Chucky movies?”

The new one is set in a mental asylum, where the previous film’s final girl Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif, daughter of Brad Dourif, who voices the titular doll) was sent following the murderous events that befell everyone around her. Judging from the trailer, a well-meaning idiot of a therapist reintroduces Chucky to Nica »
