Justin Bieber in a Marky Mark Joint?

What does musical trendsetter Justin Bieber have in common with Mark Wahlberg? Pretty soon they could be attached to the same project.

According to MTV news, Mr. Marky Mark believes The Bieb has got the right stuff. Speaking of the right stuff, Wahlberg is no stranger to that certain something either. Aside from being a charismatic, popular and pretty macho actor, he’s a keen businessman and has really poured himself into making certain creative projects a reality. Entourage and The Fighter are two examples. So, when he puts his focus on something, it just could be a success. What’s next? A team up with Bieber, of course.

Boomtron reported on the Contraband star’s decision previously, when he named Justin Bieber as a possible star for Wahlberg’s basketball-themed drama. This type of film is something with which Wahlberg is intimately familiar, »

Justin Bieber was just given a Huge compliment by actor/director Mark Wahlberg. 2011 Year in Review: Movies

27 December 2011 12:25 PM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

If there’s a theme to 2011’s crop of films featuring lesbian/bi women, it’s that this was a very good year for emerging voices. First time and younger filmmakers made a mark in huge ways this year, providing everything from spellbinding documentaries (No Look Pass), heart-wrenching drama (Pariah, Break My Fall, Circumstance), and fresh comedy (Jamie and Jessie are Not Together, Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same). Pair that with the quality coming from established filmmakers like Celine Sciamma (Tomboy), and you have a year marked by the presence of strong, unique voices.

Hard Hitters

Nowhere is that strength of vision more prominent than in the year’s dramas. Well-meaning (but tired) melodramas were drowned out by clear-eyed, nuanced filmmaking, most evident in Pariah, the story of a young African-American woman struggling with her identity, and Circumstance, which features the romance between two teenaged girls in Iran.

Piven Almost Crashed Parents' Car One Christmas

25 December 2011 11:56 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Entourage star Jeremy Piven has one Christmas memory he'll never forget after almost crashing his parents' car into a neighbour's home as a teen - because he had no idea how to drive.

The actor's mum and dad were heading out of town one holiday and asked a then-14-year-old Piven if he could get their vehicle safely home.

The young star jumped at the chance to get behind the wheel - despite never having driven before - and the ride back to his Chicago, Illinois home almost ended in disaster.

He says, "I remember one Christmas my parents were out of town, (and they said), 'We have to drive our car back, can you drive?' At 14, I said, 'Of course I can drive!' - I'd never driven - and I got behind the wheel of the station wagon and you know, Chicago was 47 degrees below zero, it's winter, it's nice and icy, so I'm teaching myself how to drive.

"I got really cocky and on the last turn, I kinda gunned it (the accelerator) and lost control, jumped the curb and skid in between two trees... and I see a couple, drinking tea in a living room in front of a Christmas tree, and I'm speeding towards them and I keep pumping at what I think is the brake, because I really don't know the difference, so I'm pumping the accelerator and it's going faster and faster and I'm thinking, 'This is the part where I smash into the living room and into these fine people's home into their tree', and I finally slammed on the brakes and skidded out before I hit their living room and they looked up and see this 14-year-old kid (behind the wheel)!" »

'A Christmas Story': 11 things you may not know about the holiday classic

TBS is in the midst of its annual 24-hour marathon of "A Christmas Story," the 1983 movie about a young boy's (Peter Billingsley) quest for a Bb gun that has become as much a part of the season as "It's a Wonderful Life."

But did you know that Jack Nicholson was considered for the role of Ralphie's father? So says TBS, which says Nicholson was offered the role and he was interested. The movie's producers became concerned about what they might have to pay Nicholson, however, and went with Darren McGavin instead.

Here are some other little- to well-known facts about "A Christmas Story."

- Author Jean Shepherd, who narrates the movie and whose book "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" is the basis for the film, also has a cameo. He's the annoyed man in the department store who tells Ralphie and Randy the line to see Santa starts back there. »

The Year In Television: 2011's Break-Out TV Actors

22 December 2011 11:21 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

This is the sixth in a multi-part series, The Year in Television 2011.

Not everyone can be a TV actor Mvp. You have to have charisma, talent, and you need a memorable part that plays to your particular strengths on a well-written show. Also, good lighting helps. This year we surveyed the television landscape to come up with ten people - both male and femaile - who we really thought broke out from the pack and made inordinate contributions to their respective shows. Some are newcomers, others have been acting for years. These are the break out TV actors of 2011 and, speaking of lighting, we'd like to shine a little more on them.

Aaron Ashmore, Warehouse 13

After years playing Jimmy Olsen on Smallville, Aaron Ashmore joined season 3 of Warehouse 13 as Steve Jinks, a gay Atf agent with the unique ability to tell whether someone is lying.

'How To Make it In America' Season 3 not going to happen: Bryan Greenberg comments

20 December 2011 7:26 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

On Tuesday, HBO officially canceled "How To Make It In America," their series about a group of friends... well, trying to make it in the New York City fashion world. Starring Bryan Greenberg, Victor Rasuk, Lake Bell, and even Kid Cudi, the series read a bit like "Entourage" (with Mark Wahlberg behind the scenes) minus the money, with added New York grit.

In its second season, "How to Make It In America" averaged about 2.3 million viewers on Sunday nights -- down 25% from its first season -- and suffered from a serious lack of buzz. (In comparison, HBO didn't cancel the newbie "Enlightened," which only premiered to 1.5 million viewers, but which did get some Golden Globe love this week.)

"Thanks to @HBO for the 2 seasons of #HowToMakeIt It was a unbelievable experience playing Ben Epstein," Greenberg tweeted on Tuesday after the announcement was made. "Thank you to all of the fans of How To Make It. »

A Woman on a 'Mission:' Meet Tom Cruise

20 December 2011 4:00 PM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

View Gallery » My mission this week, which I chose for myself and had no problem accepting, was to Meet. Tom. Cruise.

After a little research, it looked like said mission was totally possible. The cast of "Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol" – Tom included – would be making the rounds at the "Today" show, "Late Show With David Letterman" and, of course, the New York City red carpet premiere.

When I arrived bright and early and freezing cold to "Today," Paula Patton was already there signing autographs and posing for pictures. It was a little more chaotic than usual but she handled it like a champ, though I didn't get anywhere near her to ask for a picture.

Simon Pegg arrived shortly after Patton was inside, and I managed to grab him for a picture on his way inside. I was off to a great start!

About 40 minutes later, Patton was leaving, so »

The Year in Television: The Biggest TV Stinkers of 2011

20 December 2011 7:23 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

This is the fifth in a multi-part series, The Year in Television 2011.

Tastes in television can of course be very subjective. One show may be your cup of tea, but not for the person sitting next to you. For instance, I love Louie, but my husband can’t stand it. I thought Torchwood: Miracle Day was a yawner, and yet the show seemed to have its vocal fans right here on AfterElton.

But where reasonable people can differ on any number of shows, the list below we can probably All agree on. These are the true TV stinkers of 2011. Now there probably were worse shows in 2011 than what appears on this list (H8R for instance), but all the projects appearing below added insult to injury: they might actually have been good. Our list includes the new shows that totally botched a decent concept... or squandered a good cast. And »

'Christmas Vacation': Chevy Chase, Randy Quaid and Beverly D'Angelo On Set in 1989 (Video)

19 December 2011 9:50 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Filed under: Movie News, Holiday Movies

Since its release on Dec. 1, 1989, 'Christmas Vacation' has become a holiday staple -- and not just because Mavis Staples sang the now-classic title track. (Try the veal?) Starring Chevy Chase (before he was the anchor on 'Community'), Randy Quaid (before he ran away from the Star Whackers), Beverly D'Angelo (before 'Entourage') and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (before 'Seinfeld'), the film earned $71 million at the box office and -- unofficially -- received a lifetime holiday season pass from TBS. What was it like when 'Christmas Vacation' was being filmed? Thankfully, Entertainment Tonight has posted video of a long-lost set visit to 'Vacation,' which finds Chase mugging, Quaid holding onto reality with a supple grip, and D'Angelo looking as adorable as you remember. Gary Cole joins 'Hart of Dixie' as Rachel Bilson's dad. Kind of. It's complicated.

When we first met Rachel Bilson's character, Zoe Hart, in the "Hart of Dixie" pilot, her daddy issues were immediately apparent -- and that was even before she found out that her real father was dead, and the man she'd called "Dad" all her life had known for years that she wasn't biologically his.

Ouch.

When "Hart of Dixie" returns this spring, we'll delve even deeper into that emotional swampland. Gary Cole will join the show in a multi-episode arc, playing Zoe's dad, the hotshot surgeon she's tried all her life to impress.
