Odessa, Ukraine — Germany’s largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland is make BBC World News available for free to subscribers across major parts of Germany. The channel will now be available in more than 35 million households across Germany.
Kabel Deutschland operates cable networks in 13 German federal states and supplies its services to approximately 8.5 million households.
Colin Lawrence, distribution director, BBC World News, said: “Germany is an incredibly important market for both BBC World News and BBC.com, and this extension of our relationship with Kd is a significant step forward for the business.”
Lawrence claimed that BBC World News has journalists in more places than any other global news channel. It has more than 70 bureaux around the world.

Relocation signals new era for channel, which is being given a revamp and new presenters to boost its global appeal
BBC World News, the corporation's 24-hour global news channel, began broadcasting from New Broadcasting House on Monday, with an on-screen rebrand and relaunched schedule aiming for higher quality production values.
It will be the first of the BBC's news channels to air from New Broadcasting House, the corporation's central London headquarters extensively refurbished at a cost of £1bn, and will feature new presenters including Jon Sopel in a new show and Afghanistan-born Australian Yalda Hakim.
The relaunch includes an on air rebrand, giving the channel a bright new look and a tighter focus on daily news and specific regions.
