Storyline

The Legendary Zorro goes off on another adventure to protect the future of California and its citizens. This time, he fights against evil-doers with the help of his beautiful wife, Elena, and their precocious young son, Joaquin. Alejandro De LaVega is torn between two worlds: his life as Zorro and his life as a family man. After Alejandro once again breaks his promise to stop wearing the mask, Elena leaves him, and soon begins seeing Armand, a haughty French Count. But a mysterious explosion in the desert leads Zorro to believe that there's more to Armand than meets the eye, and our hero is intent on finding out what that is. Little does he know, there are others working to uncover certain truths as well. Written by amneris21

Trivia

The sequel went through many titles. It was originally called "The Mask Of Zorro 2" and then that title was changed to "Zorro Unmasked" which had been the original script title by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. After their script was not used the title went to "Zorro 2" then to "The Return Of Zorro" before Sony pictures finally settled on the title "Legend Of Zorro". See more »

Goofs

Elena issues Diego with divorce papers, and he seems to regard this as something regrettable but normal. Mexico (the country California separated from) did not have civil marriage until 1870, and the United States (the country that had annexed California just before the movie begins) did not adopt modern divorce procedures until the 1900s. Furthermore, both Elena and Diego are Catholic, a religion famous for not recognizing divorce except under rare circumstances up until the 20th century. In 1850, divorce would have been unthinkable to them for this reason. See more »

Quotes

Zorro: Why are you still wearing his necklace?
Elena: I'm under cover! Besides, these are pearls. You never gave me pearls.
Zorro: I thought you didn't care about things like that.
Elena: I lied. Every woman loves pearls.
Zorro: Well, now you have them, *princess*.

2 thumbs up

I was looking forward to this movie for months and personally I loved it. I laughed and cheered throughout the movie. If you want a Zorro adventure/action flick you will get it. Catharine Zeta-Jones role is enhanced and she gets to be more than a pretty face. I loved Elena's role as Zorro's partner as well as wife. The mini-me Zorro son was fine with me also and got lots of laughs from the audience. Good villains and great scenery from San Luis Potosi in Mexico. Good stunts especially with the horse. While some of the plot may seem unbelievable you must suspend belief and just sit back for a good time. The audience applauded at the end. Nice music too!
